Are you sure the news said that?
Because that kind of thing that creates havoc.
If it can be spread by water then it can happen to everyone and everybody.

No, water cannot spread the virus unless someone purposely contaminated it

The Mayo Clinic lists the various ways in which the virus might be transmitted. Water (either as drinking water or in pools and hot tubs) is not thought to be one of them and, so far, no virus has been detected in drinking water. If in doubt, I would advise boiling drinking water..
By far the most common form of transmission is by exhaled water droplets which contain the virus and sub-microscopic virus particles (dry).
