We had a thunderstorm with a force 12 wind on the afternoon of May 10th. During it ,the pinnacle of the Zhenfeng pagoda in our city was blown down. Zhenfeng pagoda is our city's landmark which was built in 1570 A.D.,7 tiers and 69.86m in height. We all feel so sad for it . Hope the departments concerned will soon make it restore to it's former glory!
The photo on the right hand is what it is like now.

The wind was very strong in order to blow it down. So looks like they restored it.

@Juliaacv It is said that the wind scale is determined by clocking how far the wind travels one second, for instance force 12 wind is 32.4-36.9 m/second.However Beaufort Wind Scale is different from that.

I remember years ago when a lightning strike knocked down a bell tower on a neighborhood church... took several years before it was replaced.

Maybe ours won't take so long. I learn that the leader from the department concerned has come to check it out on the spot.

Ah, I missed your post here !
That must've been some very strong wind to knock that down ! I hope no one was injured wherever the piece(s) landed (I wonder how big the pinnacle it was). Hopefully this historical landmark will be restored soon (or maybe as I am so late it is already restored!).

Never mind ! I don't post regularly here.Fortunately there were no visitors then ,due to it being raining and blowing hard. Now they have begun to renovate it.

That's if your city thinks its worth the time and effort to restore it. Or, if they believe the money is better used elsewhere.

What a beautiful building. Thankfully it is only the top that was destroyed. It is remarkable that the rest of the building looks pretty much intact. I hope you & your family are keeping well?
