The weirdest thing happened to me today.
Okay, I was wrapping up my work and going to bed when suddenly I got a message beep on my cellphone.
I checked and it was my Project Manager.
He said that I needed to punch in some extra hours into work today.
I was like I am already working two shift timing. (India and US)
This was somewhere around 3 in the morning.
In my head, I was like, so I have just finished a 14 hours shift and he wants me to punch in extra hours.
I asked how much more?
He replied just another 3 hours.
So here I am guys finishing my 17 hours shift and going to bed.
Good morning to some and night to others.

I did actually.
I was in such a deep sleep.
so, because of bad weather and heavy wind my door has been banging from morning and I couldn't hear that only after waking up I realized it's windy today.
Plus missed a lot of calls.
LOL

The "A little" extra work is never "A little".
Yet it does sometimes happens in work life.
My work timings are flexible but sometimes I have to stretch.
I had to put in a few hours even on 26th January due to some urgent work.
Else it is still reasonable.
Problem comes when one has to work each weekend or stretch beyond 9 hours everyday.

Thankfully it was not for too many hours. More of an advisory work. I figured out a few things and suggested to my colleague and he made the changes- a mix of Java and Sql code!

I agree, to achieve something, you have to go that extra mile.

I am not sure.
I don't have any base to compare for it.
My ultimate goal is to move to the US for work, that's why I let them do this to me.

That is already too much. 8-9 hours per day is just normal but 14 days, it must be exhausting.

Well, it is sometimes.
You see I have to work in two time zones, India and the US.
So I try as much as I can.

@Prabhatsingh this is a better explanation of the time difference online
If you live in India and you want to call a friend in United States, you can try calling them between 6:30 PM and 10:30 AM your time. This will be between 7AM - 11PM their time, since United States is 11 hours and 30 minutes behind India.

I hope your don't have to do the extra shifts very often. That can be hard on a mind and body. Can you not say no?

So, it's not always.
Generally happens when the workload increases in the project.
I wish to say no sometimes but at the end of the day I think to myself, anyways I am staying at home and not doing anything else because of lockdown,
Why not give that time to the company.

Not sure.
Well, nothing is legal beyond 9 hours but that is never the case.
is it?
During this work-from-home period, it extends for everyone.
i guess

Nothing like that.
What's the point of taking the day off.
I will still be at home only because of lockdown.

I won't actually.
So the company is till, in the startup phase, they have to compensate that and gets the work done anyhow.
Off is not an option.
