Hi Lot people,
Does anyone ever felt easy in learning new language, I always feel language opens many doors to connect at a deeper level to understand people, it gives a sense of whole when talking in native language. One get to know the literature, art, culture of the country and the small nuances makes large difference altogether. But does anyone felt stress while learning a new language ? Like being anxious around strangers and getting laughed at?

Yeah,exactly.
There are lots of new words to learn. It needs a lot of patience, practice and determination.
It is frustrating sometimes.but if one have determination,it keeps motivating to finish what one have started.

I mean in India itself there are 21 different languages.

I am comfortable with five languages and I consider it a blessing.
I worked in Indonesia and picked up the basics in three months.
Without that, I would have been lost and less effective at work.
Unless we set the ball rolling, we will never make a beginning.
It does not matter - if people laugh then I know I have goofed up. It is okay with me.

Never be stressed speaking with other people in another language. How else can one practice?
I learned Italian in Italy using a little dictionary when in deli or market. In 2 years living there, I learned the language talking to natives. Then I started reading books and writing well. Later on, I learned Spanish, a bit of Portuguese again without formal studies.
I just enjoy listening, reading, and speaking.
So, just do it! (Sorry Nike )

Thank you so much for the advice. I understand that by making mistakes we learn fast, but practically I feel very guilty about not talking perfectly which causes more stress and I make more mistakes than intended. But I will try to do as you suggest.

I don’t think it is easy to learn a foreign language but if you are interested to learn and work hard for it, you will be able to achieve what you want. You have to practice though, from shopping to reading the magazine of the foreign language you are learning.

I think people can sense if you're a learner and trying your best and will be patient and helpful with you.

It is not easy to learn other language. You need a lot of words to remember and use them properly. I love talking with my doctor I can fully practice my German language. She don`t laugh at me when I made it wrong. She corrects me and then I learn

Like learning anything new, especially when there is potential for embarrassment, it is normal to be anxious.
The effort is worth it, though, when it comes to language.
Nothing breaks the ice better than reaching out to someone in the 'language of the heart' - it is a tremendous kindness to try to make someone else feel cared about, that you make an effort to speak to them in their language.
As you mention, language is so vital not just to finding out mundane things but to get to communicate on a deeper level - language is deeply impacted by the history and culture of the people who speak it. It is so much more than just words.
I am including a link to the most translated website in the world.
Articles in over 1000 languages are found here.
Hope you enjoy it.

@sjvg1976 I learnt French when I was at school. I can still remember some of it but a lot of it I've forgotten.

I really like the subject of languages ??and cultures of foreign countries. I speak English a little, because it fascinated me since I was a child and it was officially taught in high schools in my country. But I would like to learn French, Portuguese, Italian and many more.

I'm trying to learn Welsh but I haven't tried it out on anyone other than close family. I'm finding it quite hard but I think that's because I'm not devoting enough time to it. I really should try to learn something or go over it at least once a day. Other things just get in the way of teaching myself Welsh. I've got a few words down, but most of the time it goes in and then straight back out again but at least I can wish you Bore da! (Good morning in Welsh!)
