Drowning in boxes
I’m just having a coffee and taking the time to bring everyone up to date. We have all our data back at the moment so I don’t have to worry about being cut off in the middle of a comment.
Today is our last day here. The removalists arrive tomorrow around 9am and hopefully we’ll be settling into our new home tomorrow evening. We have good friends about 8 doors up from our new place and they’ve invited us for a casserole tea – and a bed if I can’t find my bedding. I think I can find the bedding but we won’t have any curtains or blinds so maybe we’ll take up there offer.
The photo is of one of the bedrooms, taken a few days ago. There is at least twice as many boxes in there now and an equal number in the other bedroom. Every time I turn around there seems to be more to pack. No doubt this too shall pass.
Next time I post it will be from the new place.

When we moved into the other house it was the best moving experience we've ever had. I packed everything up a week ahead and wrote what room each box was to go into at the new place... I filled my car and drove it over and unloaded it, then moved it to the side. My friend, meanwhile, filled his pickup and parked it to be unloaded. Then he took my car back and loaded it again while I unloaded his truck, putting the boxes into the correct rooms. By the time I had his truck unloaded, he was back with the loaded car... It took seven trips with both vehicles before everything was moved. I took the next day and unpacked everything. It was so nice and went so quickly, neither one of us could believe it.
I hope your move goes that well and quickly, too.

@sallypup Yes, furniture was the last trip we made with his pickup.
Pretty was with her mom, so I had plenty of time to pack, didn't have to worry about keeping anything out of the boxes and ate out during that week.
This last move Pretty and I packed in a week. We only had two weeks to find a new place, pack and get moved. (Pretty did most of the packing as I was still working while we moved.)

@DaddyEvil- Wow. You truly are impressive. You didn't have furniture to move? You only had to pack boxes for a week?? I am packing right now and I don't expect to move for at least a year. Maybe I am a pack rat.

Moving takes a lot of hard work, as you and Vince already know. It will be a relief, finally settling into your new home!

@JudyEv Thank God for beautiful friends, willing to help out at this time:) They've probably experienced similar issues, during their moving process![](/Content/images/emotes/hugs.gif)

@kobesbuddy It will be nice to be closer to our friends, although we won't be living in each other's pockets. We're looking forward to renewing acquaintances with many old friends who live in the city and suburbs.

I know how many boxes are needed to pack everything. We packed everything ourselves, moved to a self storage in France (during several weeks), the movers went there to collect all the boxes (with the lists of the content) to move everything here in Switzerland. What a stress.

@JudyEv This is true, but what I hated more was to type a more or less detailed list of the content for the three Customs we had to cross (France - Italy and Switzerland final destination). The Italians had to open some boxes and stick their nose in of course.

my daughter is a bit sloppy. When we moved from Indiana to Maryland, she ended up packing some boxes by herself. She then moved them from our first house in MD to our second house.
six boxes that were unpacked for three years.
I finally said unpack them.
They were all filled with trash!!!

@DocAndersen We have to buy shelving for a storeroom and the garage for starters. Not sure what else yet.

@JudyEv i am sure, we got rid of so much moving from a huge house in Indiana to a smaller house in Maryland, so much so that we ended up buying more stuff and now this house is full to the brim!

When we moved we had hired movers and packers who took care of packing and also unpacking.

Our new place will be much smaller and easier to manage. We'll be closer to medical help, etc, too.
