I received my first jab of Astra Zeneca vaccine yesterday morning. The whole process took 2 hours. It could actually be less but during the BP monitoring before the shot up and went to a high of 170/100. So for around 20-30 minutes I have to rest.
After the shot, the infection site is a bit tender up to now and I feel a bit of pain every now and then. I got sleepy after the shot. I do not know if it's because of the vaccine or just that I slept 5 hours last night. My temperature also increased and I feel a bit hot last night but it did not progressed since the doctor there told us to drink paracetamol.
All in all so far I am good. I will have my second dose on August.
What are your experiences when you got your vaccine shot?

Congratulations on getting your first dose of the vaccine. At least you are now halfway protected from the virus. Our company is eyeing either Aztra and Moderna. I am trying to get Moderna if it's already available by then. If not then I have to contend with Aztra. One disadvantage of getting Aztra is that there is a longer period before you can get your 2nd dose while Moderna only needs 28 days for the second dose.

@rakski Anyway I guess Aztra is good too. Yes, they have not yet arrived at our place. My aunt in the US has taken Moderna and they were ok after that. I am hoping to get that one too but it seems the delivery is the problem with it. So if we will be called by them then I will just take what is available to be done with the procedure and get myself protected already.

I did not and will not get this vaccine. As an adult I believe strongly in immunization through infection. Our bodies are self-healing machines, and we have safeguards built in to protect us from illness. We get sick sometimes, but it's necessary in order for our bodies to rally and fight.
I will not judge or tell a person how to live their lives. I will give my opinion if asked for.

@rakski As we all should. Getting a shot should not be the big deal it's being made out to be.

Ive had 2 shots of the same vaccine as you. It didn't take very long at all, just the time to roll my sleeve up and get the jab. They don't monitor your blood pressure or anything else whilst it's happening over here. Why do they do that? No side effects for me that I've_noticed.

@rakski That makes sense. Fortunately I don't have BP issues.

My first vaccine shot that took place last month took about 30 minutes waiting inside of my auto with members of the Louisiana National Guard doing the work of giving me the injection at the Lake Charles Civic Center.
