Advice for a bruised tail bone?

After that perfect weekend at my granddaughter's, Sunday night after I got home, I fell on my back. I only had one glass of wine with my husband, but it was most likely the dim lighting. I don't have good balance in low light and all I did was turn around, then fell backwards. Thank God I fell on carpet, although I barely missed hitting my head on the TV. Didn't need a concussion again. I think I slightly sprained my hand (it's getting better), but I fell on my butt and it is so sore! There's not much to be done but wait for it to heal. I'm taking NSAIDS and Tylenol and sitting on a pillow, lol. Any advice? Other than "Don't fall again" ?

Ouch, it has been years since I have fallen and hurt that part of me. But I still recall the tenderness of the area afterwards. Have you tried ice or heat on it? I hope that you find a solution to get thru this until it heals.

Thanks. I've already started some exercises to help improve my balance. Too dangerous to be falling at my age.

@1creekgirl After my concussion 2 years ago I began with vertigo, it can be so scary to be off like that.

@Juliaacv Do you still have vertigo at times? I had a concussion when I fell several years ago... flat on my back on a concrete patio. Grace of God I didn't break a bone, but I think it did make a torn rotator cuff worse. Which I did have surgery for later.

I just love that photo, Of course, the best advice is to be careful and don't have another fall. I have hurt my tailbone and it has helped to keep a soft pillow under me and walk very slowly until it heals,

I think you're doing all you can. Patience is needed. Prayer wouldn't hurt.

@1creekgirl My sister had a broken tailbone, so I imagine a bruised one is painful. I'll pray for a speedy recovery. I hope the pillow is comfortable.

A bruised tailbone, I'm so sorry this happened to you! This means you will be sitting on a pillow for a while. I slipped on ice and fell on cement, which broke my tail-bone. It was excruciatingly painful.

Oh my, I'm sure that was terribly painful! Did you have to have surgery?

@1creekgirl I was a teenager, so hid this fact from anyone. It still bothers me, today.

So sorry. Ice might help. Vertigo and balance issues are never fun. I wonder if there are issues going on you are not aware of. Please take it easy.

@1creekgirl Just what are we going to do with you? If it's not one end it's the other it seems. Ice, hot water bottle --- I'm not sure what would help. Not a good thing to happen. You poor thing.

I was going to suggest sitting on a pillow but I see you're already doing that. Certainly is a painful area to hurt and I hope it heals quickly. And yes....don't fall again

Ouch! Don't fall again and just let it heal up. There's nothing else that can be done!
