Day 2 Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, “Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?” 2 And the woman said unto the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.” 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, “Ye shall not surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.” 6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. 7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. 8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. 9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, “Where art thou?” 10 And he said, “I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.” 11 And he said, “Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou should not eat?” 12 And the man said, “The woman whom thou gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. 13 And the LORD God said unto the woman, “What is this that thou hast done?” And the woman said, “The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.” Guilt causes you not to spend time with God. It’s easy to pray when things go well, but when temptation finds you, you want to run and hide, fearing the consequences of your actions. We see three things pertinent to prayer. One is the need for prayer. The second is the time of prayer, and the third is confession. As Christians, you know you cannot run and hide from God when you sin. You need to confess your sin so God can make it right between you. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (KJV) You know God wants to meet with you. He met with Adam and Eve during the cool of the day, suggesting late afternoon. The Jewish people set the hour of prayer at the ninth hour or three p.m. Acts 3:1 Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour. (KJV) Everyone has a reason to pray. You have problems you can’t solve without God’s help. Adam and Eve had a problem. Satan entered their lives with temptation and desire. The only way to fix the problem was to go to God. However, they hid from God. They didn’t want Him to know what they did. They thought hiding from God would keep things right between them. Hiding your sin from God is never the answer. God knows everything you do. Only confession can make things right with God. Sometimes you need to peel back the layers to get to the root of sin and the reason for prayer. In Adam and Eve’s case, the root cause was the serpent who beguiled them with cunning words. When you know the root cause of your sin, God can take your sin and wipe it clean. Don’t be afraid to meet God. Confess your sin. You will feel the joy of fellowship with God, and Satan can’t bring accusations against you. Let’s pray: Father, I know I am a sinner. I know my sin brings a wall of separation between us. Help me come to you, confessing my sin, and regain my relationship with You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 15 June 2021 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay

One of the main illness of the world today is that it does not realise and it continues to sin.

@Daelii I agree. So much of what I grew up with is disappearing. It's so sad. Especially, when acts of kindness seen today, were normal when I was growing up.

Amen! Isn't that the truth. It feels like gradually so much of the righteous things that were norms are being wiped away or forgotten. Being nice to others is a rarity. All of us are guilty of sinning in one way or another. The only hope is that God loves us all and that we reach out to him for guidance and make an effort to have a relationship with him.

We have a lot of people in the US that need to meet God and get back to God. I'm afraid that our country will not get any better until that happens.
