Keep out the sun that is.
I have east facing windows and west facing windows that really bring n the sun and the heat.
As much as I like to look out the windows, I am finding It really makes the air conditioner work more efficiently if I keep out the sun.
I am doing what I can to keep cool.

@GardenGerty We all have shutters here, also for safety, I always close the shutters before going to sleep.

There's these things called "curtains" and their cousins "blinds/shades"...
Currently 23°C/74°F outside here, thermostat says 73°F and I've got goose bumps.

Yeah. If the curtains are closed the window a/c unit is covered. I find the 73-74 temp to be a bit cool.

We do the same, and the ac doesn't have to run constantly.

@GardenGerty I know. Budget billing helps keep the eletric respectable, too.

The sun is wonderful, but this time of year it promotes too much heat!

I like the north facing windows and they are big. There is an overhang that keeps them shaded. The west windows in particular heat up my office area.

@GardenGerty Our big front window faces north, which is wonderful:) The sun never shines in this window, we can view almost all of the neighborhood from there.

Perhaps tinted glass or curtains would help. I read about all the heat sweeping some parts of the U S. Be safe and keep cool.

If I put the curtains down then the air conditioner is covered up. I have put a huge picture over the window.

I cannot shut the drapes as then the a/c does not work. It is a window a/c. I put a huge picture up to cover the window for now.

I have two small windows that face east. I get the morning sun so that isn't too bad. When I built this mini house, I deliberately didn't put windows on the West side. I have it against the smaller mountain on the property to help shade more. With a steel fire roof, it can still get pretty warm but I can run my fan awhile before turning on the actual AC.

That sounds like good planning. Usually we do not need a/c this early in the year.

I put a large framed picture in the opening. I have to pull the curtains back to allow the air conditioner to work.

I covered the west window and it helped a lot.
