We added some accessories in the kitchen

The photo shows the kitchen in our new house. We recently attached the black accessories you can see on the back wall. There is a magnetic knife holder and, to the left and right of the holder, are rods which hold hooks, small trays and containers for utensils. We haven’t had these types of things before but are finding them very useful. Rather than fossicking in a drawer for a spoon or ladle, you can just pluck them off the wall. There is a microwave and stove on the left and gas hotplates. It isn’t quite as tidy as I would have liked it to be but I took the photo in a hurry.

I love to have the spoons and ladles hanging on the wall instead of inside the drawers. I keep the knives inside the drawers, my husband things that this kid could get hurt!

The knife strip fell down this evening so perhaps your husband has a point! We might need to screw it into the wall.

It's a common word here but Maluse in Germany had never heard of it either.

@JudyEv It's not common here, one of my friends tends to use it which always makes me smile : )

Very nice kitchen but where's the window, I'd go nuts without a window.

Oh good, I was only curious because I couldn't see one. So how do you like your new kitchen?

There is quite a large window on the right of the picture. The rice cooker (extreme right-hand corner) is on the left-hand side of the sink which is under the window. I might do a post about that soon so you can see.

@rebelann It works well. There is actually a lot of storage space but some is very high and the shelves are quite deep so stuff gets lost towards the backs of them.

@JudyEv That is what we call one-storey house which is suitable for the elderly.Do you have a garden where you can grow flowers ?

@changjiangzhibin89 There is a very tiny area front and back of the house and a very narrow laneway each side. Gardening will be mainly in pots I think.

Yes, I guess it does seem a bit that way. At least we are on the ground floor and can get outside. Just in case you are confused, there is no second floor. Ours is a stand along house albeit quite small.

We didn't get to choose any thing but it's all very nice. I'm not fussed about the door handles but there not bed enough to replace. Just that I might have chose something a bit different. The floor tiles are a slatey grey too and the carpets in the bedroom a dark charcoal.

Love your kitchen, especially the white cabinets. When we gutted and redid our kitchen, I had custom drawers made for knives, spices, utensils, etc. I like my counters and walls clear as possible.

@JudyEv It looks like Home to me. That is what counts and it looks very tidy to me. It is fun making a place your own. I had shelves put up and there are places cannot because of the electrical part so they were put up in other parts. There are still things that need to be done and will be. I love making this place our home.

Is that a spice rack on the wall to the left? Pretty's been looking for one but hasn't found anything she likes. All our spices are in a cupboard and we don't either one like them there. You're getting it put together.

@JudyEv Yeah, I've already been there. I appreciate you showing a better photo of it. Thanks. We usually cook late at night to keep the house from getting too hot. When I went to set up the chicken I discovered we were out of two of the spices we needed. I cooked the chicken anyway. Pretty doesn't like it but I thought it tasted good enough. If the spices were where we could see them I don't think that would have happened.
