Four Years Flew By

It was four years ago exactly on June 29 when I closed and locked the gate of my house in Riga, Latvia for the lsdt time, There were pictures flashing in my mind of the first time I entered the gate, of the faces looking out the window, and of the happy times shared there. Then I sat in my stepdaughter Mara's car and for a few moments, it was so painfully real I could not speak.
Then came the parting time at the airport and my journey began, I had Sid to look out for and thinking about him it was a great help, I had two planes to take and both planes were filled up completely except for an empty seat beside me both thems and I understood my soul mate Martin was traveling with me in spirit and that was shy Sid was behaving so well, He had bothy his Mama and Papa with him and that made him content, He would not ahve been so quiet if he was only with his ditzy mom.
So I carried him through 3 airports - Tiga, Amsterdam, and finally Orlando. My destination was Daytona Beach and Orlando is an hour away. I had to get Sid out of the carrier and get him food and water. The tropical heat of Orlando hit me so I could hardly breathe. A nice cab driver agreed to take me to my destination. It was a releif to get into that cab but then when we got to Daytona Beach he asked me a very important questiton - Where are you going?
I could not go back, I could only go forward and guess what I had forgotten to write down? That's it the address of where I was heading for, Luckily I knew my friend's sons all used the Internet and their address was online, I had the first cabbie leave me at a large hotel where I got to use the Internet and had the address in just a few minutes, Then another cab brought me to my final destination and I still cannot believe that four years have passed by.
Do you know what a woman with an aching heart finds in her one suitcase? A tablespoon from Latvia, two flannel shirts that Martin wore, and other surprising knickknacks that I just automatically put in there. Around my neck, I had my mom's blue mosaic cross from her days in Latvia so many years ago and in my purse the cross and beads Martin had received when he was baptized, I guess I had thought of everything,

@DocAndersen you know there is much we do not understand between this world and the world beyond, By the second plane I was convinced that Martin was traveling with me int spirit but in case I was still doubtful he made sure the video in front of the empty seat next to me came on.

@RasmaSandra there is so much we do not understand. So many things we can feel but can't see. The old adage if I cannot hold it, it is not real, limits us!

Time can really fly by, can't it? Before you know it, you blink... Hard to believe Dec 15 will be five years since we spent our first night in this house. You sure had quite the journey to get here, didn't you?

It's good. It's still fresh in your mind those memories you had 4 years ago.
