Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky ( (November 11, 1821 [O.S. October 30] – February 9, 1881 [O.S. January 28]) is considered one of the greatest Russian writers. His works have had a profound and lasting effect on twentieth-century fiction.
Dostoevsky's novels often feature characters living in poor conditions with disparate and extreme states of mind, and explore human psychology while analysing the political, social and spiritual states of the Russia of his time.
Do you like him? I love " Crime and Punishment".

dostievsky's novels you do not read...you live them. it is relevant not only for the russian society, the themes are very modern and we might say, dostoievsky was a prophet for the centuries to come...read "the demons" and you will find communism, read "the crocodile" and you will find capitalism, read "stories from the underground" and you will find our own age...

I have not read any of his books yet - but they are on my to-be-read pile for 2007.

Well, that's bad if you aren't happy with it. But my impression of you says that you are a Marketing Genius.
I'm also in a vital juncture of my life, it's now that I too have to make that inevitable decision to specialise in something. I'm in my 12th Grade and I'm in a fix. I'm not sure of becoming an Engineer, my heart says I'd male a better Lawyer.
Dunno what I'll end up doing, but do I hope I don't end up regretting it.

My dear friend, I looked for the books that you suggested first thing today and found Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. I was disappointed not to find Kafka's works, but I'll get it sooner or later.
I just started the book and am very impressed with his protagonist Raskolnikoff's persona. I also liked his style of writing very much, and I'm sure I'll enjoy it even more as I make progress.
By the way, what's 'batuchka'?
Good day to you, bye.
