A Press conference about our COVID cases

The photo has nothing to do with the post.
In Western Australia, we’ve had four days lockdown because two cases of the Delta mutation of COVID turned up. It should finish at midnight tonight. Throughout the COVID event, our Premier has given regular press conferences which are aired on a FB site.
It takes a few minutes for the authorities to get themselves organised to speak and in that time, people are online waiting. They’ve now taken to putting funny comments while they wait. Some are hilarious; others you need a bit of background knowledge to pick up the jokes.
Here are some of them:
Does anyone have a tip for the trots? (trots are horse-racing events)
Anyone got a scorpion-fronted barbecue for sale?
I can’t decide what colour to paint my house. Any suggestions? (then of course people chime in with all sorts of suggestions)
How can I stop my dog throwing up when he sees me putting on my mask?
Some think they can tell what the Premier is going to say by the colour tie he is wearing so they take bets on the colour of his tie. It all makes for an interesting life.

For what I heard, the delta variant will be the majority here at the end of August. However quite all the restrictions have been removed in France on July 1st. The government targets to have 60% of the population vaccinated to reach immunity, actually 51% received at least 1 shot, so we are not far. I got my second shot and received my EU covid passport to travel on June 25th This said I keep some serious sequels. Look at my ears after wearing a mask during 1 year !

The Delta variant is already the majority in the US, according to the Wall Street Journal.
You're looking good, Top! Did you get a haircut?

51% is really good. I don't think we're anywhere near that yet. We're aiming at 60% too. Vince has had one shot but then the computer lines jammed so I haven't had mine yet. I hope my ears don't become like yours!! At least you are now easy to find in a train station. lol

Our Government organized the same regular Press conferences every day, now it's once a week on Wednesday. We know that we must not panic, that things are going well, but should go bad again they will act quickly this time. So we know nothing at all, but that we are free for the moment.

I am glad that you showed us a picture of the roo and her joey.
The delta variant is here in our city.
I feel that with so many people having had 1 shot, not fully vaccinated though, are the ones going without their masks, they should realize that this variant is quickly spread.
I am thankful that I work from home and hardly leave to go anywhere.
I will get my second dose in a couple of weeks so I will then be fully vaccinated.

Oh, my! I'm sure some people have a good time during the wait.
I don't do as well as I could if forced to wait on something... I'd be liable to ask silly stuff, like if anyone wanted to buy my underwear... and then show a pair of granny panties.

@JudyEv I'd be okay as long as nobody asked me to model them.

A sense of humor, always make life bearable. Si glad lockdown ends. Delta hit Hawaii too. So far, no lockdown. Our covid cases sometimes go to single digits too more frequently, so far, but today, 35 cases on Oahu.

@oahuwriter It's hard to know, isn't it? It's been going for a long time now.

the Delta variant is really bad news. even at nearly 70% of the US adults inoculated we are still seeing a spike.

@JudyEv we did poorly in response at first, but have gotten better. still, that delta variant is running rampant throughout the world.

That's funny really...Sorry about your lockdown though. You are much closer to India than we are here..and the majority are vaccinated..The Delta T variant just seems to be hitting areas where the majority are unvaccinated. I don't think this state has to worry too much, although in some states not everyone is vaccinated. rather unbelieveable.

The Premier is our West Australian leader but our national Prime Minister also gives press conferences from time to time. I think that is why our state obeys the requests so well - because we all know what's going on and what the figures are.

The variant is in the US too; but I haven't heard too much about it. Have a good weekend.

It's good to have those funny moments while they keep people waiting. Good to hear that the covid situation is very much in control there. Here the cases of Delta variant is still there and it's a big concern in our city.

@JudyEv Our vaccination drive is going very well. We are actually vaccinating 1 crore in a day now and that is more than population of many countries. But then we are a huge population. Government is targeting to vaccinate all adults by December this year. It's a herculean task but they are doing a wonderful job despite of all challenges of a developing country.

Good it's only four days of lockdown. Though some restrictions have been lifted here, lockdown is still on for the last 3 months. This pandemic has ruined everything right from career, savings, daily lives. I don't see anything better for the next couple of years.

Always nice to see the roos! Love the sense of humor - and interesting about reading into the tie color! Gotta find the humor in it all somehow. I know the cases here are going up again . . . apparently the Delta variant is driving it . . . we literally have to see what happens day to day, week to week .

That's a different way to be a part of the conversation for those that post comments anyway.

@JudyEv So far my country has fought successfully, but honestly, now they are not doing anything, they have opened everything, gatherings are possible, almost no one wears a mask ... so if all this with a new strain of virus is true, in a few months we will be again
