I thought l would pop by to wish all my American friends a happy 4th of July. Did you know that it is also celebrated in other countries too. In Denmark they celebrate it. It is known as Rebildfesten and picnics are held in a Park. It is also celebrated in Norway in a town that has a parade attracting lots of American car owners to take part in the motorcade through the little town of Lillestrøm as well as Oslo. The expat community in Sydney, Australia along the harbour front hold celebrations and once upon a time it was even celebrated in the Philippines. In London it is celebrated in Covent Garden with lots of restaurants holding events. So wherever you are in the world enjoy your day!

First, thank you for the kind words. I wonder, what the reaction was in August/September 1776 when George III got the letter from the former colonies announcing the colonies no longer service royal taxed tea? Did they celebrate then also? (sorry I can't help being a smart aleck!)

That made me laugh but wait till you see what our Queen has to say! I hope l can find her speech! To the citizens of the United States of America from Her Sovereign Majesty Queen Elizabeth II: English Jokes. In light of your failure in recent years to nominate competent candidates for President of the USA and thus to govern yourselves, we hereby give notice of the revocation of your independence, effective immediately. Her Sovereign Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will resume monarchical duties over all states, commonwealths, and territories (except Kansas, which she does not fancy). Your new Prime Minister, David Cameron, will appoint a Governor for America without the need for further elections. Congress and the Senate will be disbanded. A questionnaire may be circulated next year to determine whether any of you noticed. To aid in the transition to a British Crown dependency, the following rules are introduced with immediate effect: (You should look up 'revocation' in the Oxford English Dictionary.) 1. Look up aluminium, and check the pronunciation guide. You will be amazed at just how wrongly you have been pronouncing it. 2. The letter 'U' will be reinstated in words such as 'colour', 'favour', 'labour' and 'neighbour.' Likewise, you will learn to spell 'doughnut' without skipping half the letters, and the suffix '-ize' will be replaced by the suffix '-ise'. Generally, you will be expected to raise your vocabulary to acceptable levels. (look up 'vocabulary'). 3. Daily Tea Time begins promptly at 4 pm with proper cups, with saucers, and never mugs, with high quality biscuits (cookies) and cakes; plus strawberries (with cream) when in season. God Save the Queen!

@garymarsh6 Thank you, very nice. We're not officially making a big fuss over it this year because of the finding of 251 graves of native children on the grounds of a residential school...

@garymarsh6 Hi Gary, all is well here. We are now allowed to go shopping again in Italy, in the area near the border it is without restrictions, the mask still mandatory. We went grocery shopping there yesterday morning.

@garymarsh6 Sorry for the late reply. Happy all is well across the pond. We have had plenty of wonderful times with the family now that we’ve all been vaccinated. Yes, thanks. We spent the holiday with our younger son and his girlfriend.

@garymarsh6 Here in Israel there is an organization both for Americans and for Canadians that celebrate for America and Canada on the same day and do something special. One year they had it at the zoo and I participated because wanted to sell some things and did good there. I do not celebrate it anymore here. I only celebrate Israel's Independence Day. That is a very very special day for me. Yesterday was another day for me.

@garymarsh6 I only these days celebrate if I even do that our Independence Day. I left all the things behind that I used to celebrate back there there. I only celebrate Jewish things here. July 4th to me was just another day.
