The Grands Visited Today!

Today we got a spur of the moment visit from my daughter and two grandkids. She asked me last night if I wanted to run to the flea market with her and I said sure. She had a box of outgrown kid's clothes to put out. I am glad that we called before we got too far down the road because they were actually closed. They have never closed for any holidays except Christmas in the past. So this was a surprise. We rode to McComb anyway and got burgers for the kids and came back to my house. The kids enjoyed playing outside and loved Little Miss Bad Girl. My granddaughter said that she was crazy for messing her room up like that! LOL! I think she can relate to that very well! She also picked out a rooster to bring home with her. She saw that I had two white chickens and her favorite chicken was a white one and died last year. I asked if she had that cleared with her other PaPa and she said, "YES!" Her mom confirned so we got a cage out and cleaned it up for the ride to Mr. Rooster's new home. I was hoping that the one she chose would be a hen, but the tail feathers were forming into a pretty fan with some blue feathers in there and spurs were beginning to appear on both feet. So she got herself a new white Rooster and I'm going to laugh when she complains of the crowing waking her up on a Saturday morning!! My daughter got another Japanese Iris from me since hers died and my granddaughter decided she needed some purple wisteria so we dug up two nice size plants for her. My grandson entertained himself by catching green grasshoppers and playing with them. He loved watching them jump so high and then having to find them all over again. He may have brought one in his pocket home. Humm. I was aiming to go to bed early because I was tired from a busy day but it's now 12:30 and I'm still up. I still may go to bed early or at least early for me. What did you do for the 4th of July? Did you BQ, have a family gathering, something else? Let us know!! We stayed in the house and listened, after 8 pm to the idiots shooting off fireworks tonight until 12:10 am. I haven't heard anything since. I'm glad you had a nice day with your daughter and grandkids.

We heard a few earlier tonight. We usually don't have any going off around here but neighbor to the north has teenagers now so I'm assuming that is who was setting them off around here.

@kareng You're probably right. Teenagers seem to like setting them off.

My niece is married to an Egyptian and lives in Luxor but when they were all staying in Australia, the little girl entertained herself collecting black beetles. It doesn't take much to amuse some kids, does it?

I enjoyed the day mostly. I sat outside and fed the squirrels until the noise from the fireworks got too much for the squirrels and they ran off. I also watched some fireworks on live video cameras.

Thanks for the update. I'm glad you were able to spend some time with family. Is that the white rooster that your granddaughter picked out? We spent a noisy 4th. The fireworks started going off about 5:30 pm. I had a hot dog and potato salad to celebrate.

Yes it is. It's a bit blurry. We did have a few go off around here but less than a dozen and not bad.

We were suppose to go to a barbecue but it got canceled. So we just stayed home. There was no firework display this year because of the fire dangers. No one on our street blew off fireworks so I got no pictures.

We actually heard a few earlier tonight but glad they stopped after 11 pm! It is usually quiet here on fireworks holidays but kids up the road are in teens now so I'm guessing that is who was setting off fireworks tonight.

There is plenty for them to do here and explore. They prefer the outdoors to being inside too! No complaints there.
