Anaphylactic shock

Today I saw a huge dead wasp and I remembered how I almost died when I was stung by one of these wasps 25 years ago. I was picking apples and I couldn't see it when it stung me. The pain was ok, but it soon started to go up my hand. And when it reached my chest, I suddenly couldn't breathe anymore. I fainted and all I remember after that is waking up with tubes in my hands. Doctors said they gave me adrenaline and I was lucky, my dad got me to hospital in time. Well, before this episode I was used to be stung by bees and wasps. After this, not anymore, I must be careful . Anyone with a similar experience?

Before that incident I used to get stung several times every year. After that, in 25 years I got stung only once .

I've bitten stung by a scorpion and thankfully it was not a venomous one and I just had a small red mark that itched a bit. I have a friend though that is allergic to bees to I try to keep an eye out for her when she's at my house because we have a lot of wasps around.

She must be very careful. But as I said in another comment, after this incident I got stung only once in 25 years. As long as you stay out of their way, bees and wasps have nothing against you .

@JordanLader there is a problem for bees and wasps though. Rising temperatures are a threat to all of them, if temperature goes over 43 degrees Celsius they die. And that's a problem for all humanity, my problem was with just one huge wasp .

@Kasjnak It's true. I try to plant flowers and things so that the bees go to them instead of staying around the house. The wasps are a completely different story.

I`m thankful that I never experienced something like this. Good thing that your father got you to the hospital on time.

Yup! And my mom was the one that gave me the shot of adrenaline, she was a nurse at that hospital. I can only imagine their feelings...

@Kasjnak I got a little bump on the area of the sting; the pain lasted for around thirty minutes

Me too and it hurts, but that was more than 25 years ago. Before that incident, if a bee stung me, I got a local bump and a little pain. Since then I got stung only once, the pain was similar, but my entire arm swelled and it remained like that for a week.

Never bitten by a wasp or bee before, but seen many people getting bitten. Your incident is very alarming and uncommon.

Well, not very uncommon. I know a few people that have the same problem. No panic, but we must be careful, that's all .
