Aiming for a higher position

I recently applied for a higher position in the office. Since i've been there for almost 2 years now, i tried filing my application. But i'm actually having second thoughts if i can handle the stress and manage a whole team. I'm used to being a follower only so I'm not sure if i have the leadership skills needed, especially i'm a bit of a shy person. However, i remembered the saying that a good leader is a good follower. So i guess it's worth trying. I'll never know until i try right?
But i have a question for you guys, how do you know you're ready for a higher position?

Good luck.
Where I work, it seems you know you're ready for a higher position when you fail at the job you're doing but not quite enough to get fired
Seriously, though, I'd suggest to speak with your own manager (and maybe another colleague who knows you well). They can give you some tips or tell you if they think you're ready.
You might not know if you're truly ready until you're in the role. Take a leap of faith, but maybe make sure you can step down if it is too much (e.g. if you can begin on a trial basis for a set amount of time and decide after that whether management is for you or return to where you are now). You might find you're already doing/have done many of the things the management position involves.

i think that you should give it a try and see what happens. i'm sure you'll do good.
also, there are some educations about leadership and stuff like that, so you could maybe look up for those and gain some skills. good luck!

I will tell you to apply for it. If you have nothing else to learn on your job and you have also learnt the jobs of those around you. Additionally, if you have obtained higher education in the field you are looking and have the experience go for it. If you don't have the experience, you can learn on the job....so go for it and ask God's guidance first. All the best

Sometimes you don't. Sometimes you just need to be willing to psuh yourself from your comfort zone a bit.

Yeah that's what i'm finding hard to do. I always am afraid to go outside my comfort zone, but i'll try to change it from now on. Thanks Kayla!

Rightly said. You can first self analyse or discuss it with your friends and family then apply for the same
