Face to Face with a Lone Pandemic Banana at Home

The lone pandemic banana

Have a happy or lousy Saturday Mylotters. In this pandemic we discover many things and do things never had done before when earth was so kind to humans. When I woke up this morning, I opened the windows facing the backyard and saw a lone banana bearing fruits yay. This lone banana is planted by my sister 8 months ago and for some weeks now people at home could taste its fruits. The image here is the lone banana planted in this pandemic. I hope it has seedlings to have at least free ripe bananas. I like ripe bananas cooked and fried. There's nothing impossible if we'll only try. I'm inspired with this fruit alone but graceful. What have you planted in this pandemic? Are you inspired to watch them grow and bear something? I wish to see our lone banana bears Gold

Wow! Bananas... And coconuts, too... Hmmm I had several veggies in my garden early this year. But now that it's rainy season, I haven't fixed my plants.. I got busy online and with continuous rain, it is hard to stay outdoors...

@brokenbee , let us always keep safe and follow protocols. By the way, in the province, we had some hectares coconuts but our property was sold when my father was sick of cancer.

@brokenbee, those coconuts are owned by neighbors, but when their fruits fall to our backyard, they will be ours. Let us stay at home delta variant is surging.

@cacay1 Ohh I thought it is yours.. Hihi The bananas of our neighbor also lean toward our compound... There were a lot of times that they bear fruits.. We harvest it for them and they are generous enough to give us some... And that's what we also do when our bananas bear fruits.. We also give our neighbors.. Yes, we have to stay indoors most of the time.. I am the only one who goes out..

You planted this from seeds? Hmm... I thought new trees just sort of sprout from old ones or something like that. There were a bunch of banana trees in the lot behind our house until recently. The owner of the lot has since started building a house on the property and uprooted the banana trees so... no more banana and banana heart harvesting in the future for us.

@cacay1 Haha. Yes. I suppose it would be great if they just transferred the banana trees to our side of the fence. But that didn't happen. Oh, well. That's ok.

@FaruMesh, it's tall it reaches the window. It won't anymore grow taller, after its fruit removed. It slowly rots leaving another offspring to serve banana eaters

I haven't planted anyting new this year. I did dig up some pecan trees, wisteria and mucadine to root but that was the extent of gardening other than a small vegetable garden. We are enjoying the freshe tomatoes and bananna peppers. Still waiting on some bell peppers and the zuchinni I think is not going to do anything. It was very wet right after we got the garden planted and the zuchinni didn't fare well with that. I only have two of those plants left.

@cacay1 Beautiful bananna tree. How long does it take this variety to produce fruit? I have one banana tree that we planted last year. I was told it takes several years before it bears fruit. Bananna peppers are just a very mild pepper. They are not hot but adds flavor. My hubby loves them and puts them on his sandwiches. My favorite use of them is in omelets and in cooking things like spaghetti sauce.

@kareng , I think, banana bears fruits after 8 months planting with constant watering. My sister waters it everyday except during rainy days. Nice to know about banana pepper , can you share here how they look to know if they are found in the mall.

@S4mmyboy, how nice to see a gold medal hanging on the fruits . This is the only banana in the neighbourhood. They don't like to plant for it's where mosquitoes breed, but my sister sprays the surrounding. So mosquitoes migrated.

Our neighboring house also has a banana tree just like yours! But ours are opposite. Infact we had to cut our two dear mango trees because of bats. I am very afraid of those creatures. Sometimes they entered our house and I freaked out. But after the pandemic, my grandma decided to cut them.

@Angaya, Oh no, bats are bad they might be bringing virus , at least they were cut. it's better to replace or plant marcotted Chinese mango. I plan to buy marcotted mango for the fruits are seen on the ground, What do you think?

@crossbone27, there is no banana plantation in America only fruits and veggies that could be planted even in pots or backyard. The berries do not grow in a hot climate. There are some places in Philippines where berries are planted like in Baguio City, Benguet, Bukidnon, all those lands near cold mountains where berries, apples, peaches, cherries grow and when come to the city , they are already expensive. How I like to marry a farmer so I can always have free fruits and vegetables and won't anymore work , but plant bananas
