Flea Market Day

I managed to get things ready to take to the flea market this afternoon and beat the afternoon rain which was a good thing. It was a long and hard rain today. I got everything out of the car in time before the rain started there. I didn't have much to bring today, but I did bring 6 dozen of eggs to put in the refrigerator there to sell today. Last week they were almost out of fresh eggs and I asked if I could bring some. I was told anyone can bring them so bring yours too! Today only one dozen was left so I am hoping that mine will move in the coming week. On the way back I hit some heavy rain and took my time getting home. Hubby had sent me a text message telling me the electricity was out at the house and it was storming at home. I decided to pick up a box of fried chicken for dinner. The lights were back on when I got home so I made a gravy and mashed potatoes to go with the chicken. And there we had a quick meal. My booth wasn't messy today and I only found one item that belonged in another booth. It pays to go weekly or bi-weekly to keep things in order. It has continued to rain here (but just up the road in town no rain had fallen when I got there a couple of hours ago.) It's odd how the weather can be so bad and just a mile or so away no bad weather at all. Photo is an old one of my booth in the antique store several years ago. We have Hurricane/Tropical Storm Fred out in the Gulf coming ashore tomorrow near FL/AL line. And another TS right behind it.

We had rain the last three days but the weather app says we didn't get any. I think the automated weather station is at the airport, roughly five miles from my house.

Wow, It looks like we will miss any rain and wind from Fred. There is another storm behind him. I hope it doesn't amount to much.

@DaddyEvil I don't think we will get any rain from Fred and now they are saying Glenda I believe was the name will turn and head toward Mexico. So we dodged two more bullets.

@kareng It's really rare that we get anything from the hurricanes along the coast. My city is just too far inland for the rain and winds to reach us. I hope the next one doesn't amount to anything, too.

It's funny how the weather works. Often times, my husband will tell me he can see rain, but where we are is bone dry.

@moffittjc It has been pretty dry here for the last week and a half. We have had a few sprinkles but they were short.

@DocAndersen Another 3 minutes and I would have been soaked. That would not have been fun driving home for 45 minutes with wet clothes.

@kareng that is a good thing - I've tried dodging the rain drops but they are faster than I am.

Any time we have had a booth at some event, we get things stolen. I'm surprised you can leave your booth unattended! Fried chicken sounds good. Haven't had any in months.

This whole flea market is set up that way and one central checkout. I would never make it sitting there all day. I'd lose my cool with some little kid opening packages or playing with toys. Parents do not watch their kids like they used to.

Glad electricity was on when you got home. Hope weather improves for you. We're having muggy warm weather. Maybe some rain is coming mostly afternoon my side of island. News tonight, maybe shutdown coming. Hospital at icu capacity or near to it, so doctors requesting month shutdown. Delta variant taking toll.

Yes, all of the icu units around here are at capacity and opening makeshift rooms wherever they can. Very sad situation. And we thought last year was bad.I hear of a new friend or family member having Covid every single day.

Yes, it is going to be another busy week or at least through Wednesday. If Fred goes directly north like predictions have it mapped out, you may be getting more rain!

@CarolDM It looks like Grace will now go to Texas from what I heard on the radio today. That is good news but will be rain for us. We actually need a bit. Got a nice rain today so no extra watering done.

Glad the electricity wasn’t off too long. We’re having the same thing, too, with the rain. It is funny how the “official weather report” will say no rain fell when parts of the city were under a flash flood warning. It just didn’t rain where they keep the stats. Hope you have a great day!
