We have now hidden a spare house-key

There is nothing like a bit of inconvenience to get people started on finding a solution or making things easier.
After locking ourselves out a few nights back, we have now found a place for a spare key. It is in a small bottle in the garden shed which has a combination lock. We can get into our ‘yard’ from the village side so this is a good solution for us – a bit better perhaps than hiding a key under a rock or pot plant.
Hopefully we’ll never need it now that we have it.
In other news, we are waiting for a ‘curtain lady’ to arrive to talk to us about curtains. She might also be a ‘blind lady’ which, for non-English first language speakers, is a joke meaning she probably knows about blinds as well as curtains.

@JudyEv I remembered our very well before my husband wanted to change it. We asked at the hotel lobby and someone was very quick to open it without knowing the combination.
I thought those locks were not really safe, but I could not imagine so very little.

Used to do that because it was amusing to hide a key just like in the movies. Thing is the doormat or the front door 'welcome plant' pot are easy hiding places accessible tp would-be thieves. Thus, we hid our spare key inside an old rubber shoe with a sock showing. Till the friend of my daughter said their house key was also tucked in her old sneaker tossed right outside their doorstep. I marveled and said, 'Now, I know.' Right away, the young friend called her Mama to tell 'Tita Eileen knows where the house key is, please change hiding place.' Sigh, she dwelt in another city. Gosh! Teens do believe I could be a potential thief.
My spare is in the dashboard of the car.

@RebeccasFarm Yes, we're very happy with them. I don't really like haven't too much choice. I get too bamboozled.

@judyev Nifty solution, so long as you remember the combination when you come home in an inebriated stupor. My spare key rests in the graveyard, under the ceramic vase that sits atop the grave of a lady I once knew. Now I just need to remember which grave because I know a lot of the graveyard’s inhabitants.

Is it in the graveyard just down the hill? I hope so. This combination is very easy to remember but I won't tell it to you in case you ever visit.

I used to keep a spare key in a old medicine bottle in a small garden.

It is good to have a spare key around a home.

@JudyEv Nine weeks will fly by. Hopefully the tint on the windows will help keep the heat out.

@JudyEv when we left Indiana, we left our hidden key. We had to call the people that bought the house and tell them where it was, because we hadn't used it in 11 years and forgot about it!

It is in our locked garden shed. It will be safer there.
