I just got a note from the Musicians Hall of Fame. They have announced that Don Everly has died.
That just sucks.
Don, like yesterday's musical passing Tom T. Hall, was a Kentuckian. The town he was born in, Brownie, doesn't exist any longer. The nearest town to claim the Everly Brothers is Central City, and claim them, they do! There's Everly Brothers Boulevard, a monument, and other tributes to their native sons.
Phil and Don didn't change music. They just brought the best of music -- country, rockabilly, and harmony -- to a very wide audience. With hits like "Bye Bye Love," "All I Have to Do Is Dream," and "Wake Up Little Susie," the Everly Brothers were major stars in country and rock. They are in both halls of fame, and rightfully so.
The brothers weren't very "brotherly" in later years, which is sad. It kept a new generation from getting to see them.
Phil died of emphysema in 2014. And now Don joins his brother in death.
Don Everly was 84.

@sjvg1976 Amen, it is one of my favorite old tunes up their with Buddy Holly and Richie Valens. Chubby Checker/. Neat stuff people take for granted. None of that is even possible because the music was not supposed to happen, these old bands like this were punk before punk was even a thing
. Society here cursed and scoffed that this music rock n roll was here and staying. , there is a movie think they need to do a more modern one and tell us how it really was,

Awwww, what a shame. The Everly Brothers was a nice group and a good era for music.

My friends wife got to see Kentucky for the first time. I told her how you could see Cincinnati and the river from Kentucky and see blue grass . She said she was visiting Ohio, , then a day later back in California from Kentucky. Haha, means she checked it out. How neat and sorry about the boys, they sound pretty neat I love old songs like that.

Billie Joe Armstrong and Norah Jones did an album called Foreverly which was based on the Everlys' album Songs Our Daddy Taught Us.
