Slowing Down This September

Can't believe that in a little over a week, it will be the 'ber' season already. For those in the Philippines, it is the start of the longest Christmas season in the world. I remember when I was still buying gifts for Christmas, I start as early as July and as late as September. I'd be finished buying gifts and have these wrapped by October. Of course, times have changed. I do not give gifts anymore and I usually just give cash or gift cards. In most ways, I have slowed down. No more rushing to get things done. Especially during this pandemic. I've learned to be present in the moment. My morning is spent listening to meditative tracks and positive affirmations. I've been in sales and in customer service for much of my professional life and 'be' months, companies take it a notch higher and want more sales, more production, more everything. Those are good and all but last year, I was really mindful of creating and devoting more time for myself and my family instead of spending it at work. I actually took a long vacation leave last December which surprised my teammates and managers. One manager didn't quite like that I had that much leave credits left and said I was 'missing out' on potential sales. Another reason why I decided to get out of this work. So far, no success yet. I'll live that for another post. Anyway, let me wrap this post up by reminding everyone to watch out for your mental health. Peace of mind is often neglected for fleeting moments. Do something for yourself. Whether that be reading a book, going out for a walk, or responsibly scrolling on your social media feed for a limited time, you deserve it. Slow down.
