Made a Magic Dinner Tonight.

My grandsons went to the dentist today and came over for dinner with my son. I told them I would cook, so they asked for chicken and dumplings, mashed potatoes, and corn. Talk about lots of starch! They usually don't ask for certain dinners, so I got busy and made it for them.
Wow, they acted like they hadn't eaten in weeks, I guess they are growing. My son gobbled his down, too, and got a second plate. Big pan of chicken and dumplings is now reduced to one small container the boys have laid claim to and are taking home. They also wanted the other leftovers, supposedly for their mom who had to work late today, but I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't get any.
One grandson informed his Dad that he and his Mom needed to hurry up and learn how to make ''magic'' dumplings like Grandma. I had to laugh, he was so serious when he said it.
No magic here. Just cooking!

I have always liked to cook. But it's sure a lot more fun when a person has people to eat the food that tell you it's good and can they please have some more? I enjoy my grandchildren very much.

Amazing how much people enjoy good old fashioned cooking and comfort food The little guy said to his Dad, it's better than macaroni and cheese, LOL.

@MarieCoyle Yes, I agree, there is nothing better then good old fashioned cooking.
I am guessing that his parents make him boxed mac and cheese.

@Juliaacv My son and his wife do cook, but they seem to serve a LOT of pizza and mac and cheese. Not when I'm over there, but I did get the impression neither one of them like to cook very much.

Grandchildren are the best aren't they . . It's great that they love your cooking so much. I remember with fondness the meals my nan cooked for me.

My granddmothers were both great cooks. I paid attention, and enjoyed being in the kitchen spending time with them.

Sounds very hearty! I would eat better if someone else cooked for me :)

I love to cook. And although it's not always healthy, the old style stuff is so tasty! So, occasionally we have to make dishes like dumplings, homemade noodles, buttery mashed potatoes, pies, and....yep.
