Hurricane Ida is gaining strength in the Gulf of Mexico and is predicted to come ashore right around New Orleans, Louisiana around 7 pm. on Sunday night. This landfall and the strengthening expected before Sunday will cause flooding along Louisiana, Mississippi and possibly Alabama's coast lines.
It is expected that Hurricane Ida will be a Cat. 2 upon landfall, but could increase to a Cat. 3 if conditions and temperatures in the Gulf are right for additional stengthening.
Rainfall will be another issue to be concerned of for all residents in coastal areas. Rainfall is estimated to be 12 to 15 inches in the area of Louisiana from New Orlenas to Lake Charles.
We have rain in the forecast for Friday starting at 7 am and turning into thunderstorms in the afternoon hours.
I know we have a myLot member in Lake Charles and several of us here in Mississippi. Everyone prepare for this one, it looks like it will be a bad one. Stay safe!

Ida wish it would go in another direction!

@DocAndersen Yeah, just sad. All the work done on barrier islands to prevent land loss in last 10 years gone to waste.

Prepare for landfall. Hurricanes seems to know no mercy.
Will keep a prayer for all the residents in the area.

@eileenleyva So far. The storm hits landfall tomorrow right after lunchtime. And then it will come through my area on Monday.

You better check the latest updates. It's now predicted to hit Louisiana as a Cat-4 hurricane. I don't know how much danger you're going to be in where you live, but please be safe and take whatever precautions necessary.

@kareng They weren't kidding when they said any storm going into the Gulf of Mexico would undergo rapid intensification due to the extremely warm water.

@LindaOHio We started getting rain yesterday from it. As long as it has these intervals we should be okay.

The “funny” thing is I have a friend who lives in Louisiana. Her name is Ida.
Thankfully, the way things look right now, they’re supposed to be on the “good side” of the storm (“east is beast, west is best”) based on current projections.

I was wondering how many here were in that path when I seen about the storm building. Hope it weakens instead. Stay safe
