Another week of homeschooling done

It's Friday once again. We've just wrapped our second week of homeschooling. I've yet to finish my weekly journal for assessment and progress tracking. So far, most days have been good. The only real challenge is waking up my teenager. She sleeps late at night reading her books or drawing, so she wakes up late the next morning. I know that other homeschooling parents simply adjust their schooling hours, but this is not recommended by our provider. It's always good to train your child to wake up early and sleep early. Hopefully as the days and weeks progress, and as our lessons become a little more engaging and exhaustive, my daughter would consider sleeping earlier than usual. How's your week going?

Do you do homeschooling because of lockdown?

Primarily because of the pandemic.

Homeschooling is only way to keep education going on for our children.

Yes, it seems. I'm sad that my kids won't be able to go back to face-to-face classes anytime soon. I'm happy to be homeschooling though. But I wish my kids could at least go out and mingle with other kids or resume their swimming and dance lessons. This pandemic has changed so many aspects of our life.

I'm getting off work in a little less than an hour. Looking forward to the long weekend as it is a holiday on Monday. Week has been good generally. It can get better of course. Agree with setting a regular sleeping hours for everyone. You sleep at the same time and you wake up at the same time. Sleep is basically a deep clean for one's brain.

School hours is part and parcel of the discipline. As well as recess and lunch breaks. There must be a regular waking hour and sleeping hour. But of course teens are more exploratory, the adrenaline waiting for excitement.....

weekly journal for assessment and progress tracking is a great idea, too bad i forget about it and then just leave it alone and never write in it again i used to go to bed late, but i had to wake up early and at that time i was fine with like 5-6 hours of sleep (or even less sometimes). i hope she decides to go to bed earlier. my week has been good too

It's good so far. Routines get all mixed up in online class. I also had a very tough time changing my sleeping pattern. Hope she changes soon too.
