Rufo's Birthday in Heaven

Some of you knew that I am using my late father's name. The primary reason is to always remember him deep inside. Today is his birthday and we are planning to buy his favorite foods in a local restaurant here. It may sound weird but it became a family tradition when he departed to heaven a few years back. Yesterday, I went to the local church to offer a prayer for him. He must be with our creator and friends right now. They are busy preparing for it. Do you or your family still celebrate the birthdays of your loved ones in heaven? Image Credit: nadjaelfertasi.com

Happy Birthday to your Dad. I always remember my loved ones' birthdays. Not really a celebration. But they are never forgotten.

If I am living alone, I might just offer prayer and lit a candle on his altar. On this day, I am sure my granny is praying hard for her eldest son who is my late father.

It seems my country is ahead of the date. We are on the 28th of August today. My name used before is Shavkat, which is my best pal's name in Tajikistan.

@Shavkat Yeah I was not sure, close enough said, 27th at time written maybe. Here anyway. Tajikistan had look that up, apparently a lot of the world loves Afghanistan more than I thought, not that it should matter I am just found whole world erupting over this after all the other atrocities we do and world so upset over this is pretty amazing. Well I will say that to any country, you should on that before you start a war with any country. Its not a freaking game.

I post mom's photo on my facebook profile picture but I do not have the skill to cook her favorite foods and there are no other family members here.

@rebelann I am sure they would not love being messy in the kitchen department. As for me, I am not good at cooking. So I am excused with this concern.

My family members can cook his favorite foods, but they need to prepare and it will be tiring for them. So I decided to buy them without any hassles.

No. But we always talk of old times on that day. And of old memories.

I and my family do not personally celebrate the holidays of my loved ones in heaven but I think that those who do it is not doing anything wrong as this is a way to remember the deceased relative and also makes the person in heaven knows that they are still loved and wants to be taken in communication from the spiritual realm to the earthly realm. In heaven also the person who has their birthday celebrated will also stay young and not go through the aging process as we do here on earth so celebrating their birthday is an ageless one.

No, I don't. Though, it's almost bittersweet, that my husband's mother passed between her birthday and mother's day.

I am not sure about the others in my country but we usually lit candles and offer prayers in a church. We got the practice during the Spanish era here before.
