I used to be a coffee...

...drinker. I stopped for more than 3 months now. The main reason is that I am a hypertensive soul and still yearning to have a cup of coffee every day. But then, I am scared that it might trigger heart palpitation. Eventually, it will spike my blood pressure. Moreover, I am always craving to have some caffeine in my system. For those hypertensive users here, do you still drink coffee?

You can have an alternative drink like 'salabat' whenever you have a craving for coffee. The hot ginger brew could change your taste. Plus, the ginger has healing content for the ailments of the body,

@eileenleyva Yes, it's roasted corn seeds . When I was small I remember it's what most of my townfolks drink because it's cheap. or they mix coffee with corn. Nescafe was not popular then. It's very ironic that am drinking it now when actually when we were small our household use pure coffee beans since our grand parents have a coffee farm.

And you really listen to what your doctor tells you? I take doctor's "orders" as a suggestion... The doctor gets upset, especially when I tell her to calm down and enjoy life a little.

My Mom had hypertension and she never stopped drinking coffee. Limit the intake and do not make your coffee too strong.

Some of my friends were telling me to have it but not too often. My mom is so strict when it comes to this concern.

I did not have the choice but to stop. I was thinking if I can have decaffeinated type instead. Perhaps I will ask my doctor if I can use this as a replacement.

I stopped drinking coffee for a while (guess for more than a year) due to gastro acidity problem. Now I seldom drink coffee , and tried avoiding it as much as I can.

@Shavkat whenever I feel that it will start I stop drinking coffee and take medications. It is quite painful really. The first time I felt that way back 2009, I went to the ER. They inject me the medicine

I do, and coffee is a major anti oxidant, with lots of benefits. Any effect on BP is likely temporary. You can read about it online.
