The Turtle Way

September 17, 2021 4:51pm CST
As I was (still) thinking about that amazing pool with warm water, I was wondering how many people like to swim with their head underwater. I personally don't like to have my head underwater! When I was little and I took swimming lessons the teacher was pretty scared and forced us to immerse our head underwater, or jump and swim in a 2m swimming pool when we could barely hold on to the flippers and move our feet! After one lap without flippers i got out of the pool and never wanted to finish learning swimming. That experience made me hate swimming for a long time. 10 years later, I was at the seaside and a family friend was nice enough to learn me how to swim with my head above the water, the turtle way :) This is the name I knew for this style, the breaststroke. And getting back to the present where I love swimming so much that I wish for a swimming pool!!

My dad taught me how to swim when I was six. I loved to swim underwater. Now, I swim with my head above water. I can't swim underwater anymore because I'm a cork, I rise to the top no matter how hard I try to swim underwater.

@andreea_v Oh I know how and had lessons growing up, I just don't care for it as much as other things.

I grew up with my head in the water.. My boys were competitive swimmers and my two grandchildren began swimming at 6 months old. None of us turtle swim, but I do when I don’t want to get my hair wet.

Swimming is so cooling too. Our family liked picknicing at the beach, digging for clams ( so fresh & delicious), and I'd wade in the shoreline just about shoulder deep. The fresh ocean air, cool ocean waters until, one day, a sandpaper like feeling brushed my calf!!! I ran out of the ocean so fast. Turned to look at ocean, and never went back into ocean ever again. Only sharks have sandpaper skin. I was 8 years old then, I'm going to be 67 soon.

Woaaaww!!! What a story!! I believe you!!! I wouldn't go in after an experience like this. I recommend a swimming pool, a lot safer and without sharks

I bet you got a lot of water up your nose!! I find that very unpleasant, and I don't like my nose to fell sore
