Assume everyone is a scammer

This is the advice I give to anyone who wants to join Facebook, Instagram or any dating site. It's from my own personal experience. Someone close to me got scammed on Facebook.
The problem is he doesn't think he's being scammed until he's lost almost all of the money in his bank account. Just be careful when an unknown person sends you a message to get to know you.
And I always advise to not put your real picture on your Facebook profile. Let the scammer guess your gender. It's when they know what gender you are that they can target you for their scam. And never use your real name. Or use a generic name that people cannot guess your gender like Robin or Kim.
Be careful when going online.

Scammers online will not stop until they can empty your bank account. Must be very careful. I don't understand why a person wouldn't give money to people they know and yet online, he/she would give his/her money to someone they've never met before. Incredible sometimes these scammers how they can persuade people to part with their money.

I moved to a new place and these two were too friendly and one kept complaining that he had no money and all these things so he said came up and he used me to get money from me and then had a key because I gave him one then and later he does not have one. So he helped himself to more things when I was not home. I finally caught on to what him and his partner or him and his boss were doing and have nothing to do wth them and they still try to do things because I will not talk to them anymore. You are right scammers are very bad and have to watch out for them. If I get an e-mail I will not open it if do not know or if accidentally do then ask someone or if have questions about something then ask someone too. Thanks and you were right to warn us.

I use my real name but I don’t give chances to scammers. I can smile them a mile away from me. They usually target vulnerable and desperate people.

@toniganzon Yeah, especially lonely, elderly people who just want some companionship. In my country, it's usually those who just retired who get targeted by these scammers on Facebook. They have money and they're mostly lonely people with an empty nest. Sometimes they're alone because their spouse has passed on. Truly sad.

These scammers are very good at targeting people. I don't use my real name on Facebook but yet I still get messages from these people. I don't respond to people that I don't know in real life and online. I only respond to messages from people I know from other websites or in real life. Strangers are ignored. So that is how I guess I never got scammed. Anyway, I don't have the money to give these scammers so they'll be just wasting their time. Hahahah!

@UmiNoor they will message everybody but it’s up to you whether you entertain that or not. A wise person would know. But desperate people looking for love are always vulnerable. Easy targets.

That's good advice. I'm sorry to hear that your friend lost his money.
