We all like to have good friends. They sure add to the joys of life. Is it possible to be friends with God?
The Bible says that we can be friends with God. It speaks of Abraham being God's friend because of his great faith and trust in God.
It also says that if we draw close to God then he will also draw close to us and that he is nor far from us. That's what good friends do, they are very close.
We speak to God through our sincere, honest and heart-felt prayers and he speaks to us when we read his word.
What are your thoughts?

I pray every day and I believe the Lord understand me well and is with me. When good things happen I say thank you Lord and when I do something I should not have done I laugh and say I have been a bad girl but I will do better and I am sure He understands,

@kanuck1 when I first wrote my own morning prayer and just talked to Him as I would to anyone and asked for him to give me strength to go on and I thank Him for each and every day,

@RebeccasFarm, so true and that's what God wants us to do to be faithful and obedient.

I've always loved that verse that said Abraham was a friend of God's. I guess I see myself as a daughter of God. He's my Father, protector, Savior, healer, and the most important person in my life.

It is a beautiful verse to spend some time with. James 2:23 (Amplified Bible, Classic Edition) 23 And [so] the Scripture was fulfilled that says, Abraham believed in (adhered to, trusted in, and relied on) God, and this was accounted to him as righteousness (as conformity to God’s will in thought and deed), and he was called God’s friend.

You made me think of this Bible passage:John 20:24-25 (Easy-to-Read Version) 24 Thomas (called Didymus) was one of the twelve, but he was not with the other followers when Jesus came. 25 They told him, “We saw the Lord.” Thomas said, “That’s hard to believe. I will have to see the nail holes in his hands, put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side. Only then will I believe it.” I hope that one day you will receive all that you are looking for and need.

Reaching into love brings love up into our self, and connecting with that love to others, is the best form of friendship, a bond of love, and with God, we can bond as a friend to him too, by simply loving him, and then having friendly chats with him too.

Absolutely! We can be friends with God. I know because He has been my Heavenly Father and my most faithful friend all my life.

I speak to God through prayer and when I do I feel close to him. He may not always respond directly to what I pray about but I believe he guides us and provides us the insight to make decisions for ourselves. We can draw strength and courage from God in difficult circumstances and knowing he is listening provides great comfort.
I hope I don't have to read the Bible to be God's friend. I'm not a Bible reader but there is great wisdom in many of it's passages.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on how you feel about your relationship with God. As I think of them, I'll share with you some passages of why I read the Bible.
Matthew 4:4 (Easy-to-Read Version) 4 Jesus answered him, “The Scriptures say, ‘It is not just bread that keeps people alive. Their lives depend on what God says.’”

@dgobucks226 This passage highlights some of the reasons, benefits and blessings of reading the Bible:
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (Easy-to-Read Version) 16 All Scripture is given by God. And all Scripture is useful for teaching and for showing people what is wrong in their lives. It is useful for correcting faults and teaching the right way to live. 17 Using the Scriptures, those who serve God will be prepared and will have everything they need to do every good work.
