We are reciting Bible,Holy Quran and Gita.Gita is in sanskrit and we recite it but can not understand it. Holy Quran is in Arabic language.but can not understand. In my opinion understanding is more important than reciting. May be reciting holy books brings peace in mind without understanding it. I invite myLotters to give their opinion. May be reciting and understanding both gives something.

If you are going to recite something you should understand it.

Understanding Holy Quran or any other holy books is far more important than just reading it. "Lo! The worst of beasts in Allah’s sight are the deaf, the dumb who have no sense.” (8:22) It is clear that people who have no sense and do not pay attention to Quran nor ponder over it are the worst of the beasts. It is imperative that a Muslim pays heed to when he or she listens to Quran and then tries to develop an understanding of Quran.

@ajeetchamania Holy Quran have stated many truths which science invented recently. For example, on Embryology.. We won't understand even a word just if we are reading without understanding it. Quran: Surah AI-Mu’minun,23:Ayat 12–14). We (Allah) created man from a quintessence of clay. We then placed him as a nutfah (drop) in a place of settlement, firmly fixed, then We made the drop into an alaqah (leech like structure), and then We changed the alaqah into a mudghah (chewed like substance),then We made out of that mudghah, izam (skeleton, bones),then We clothed the bones with lahm (muscles, flesh) then We caused him to grow and come in being and attain the definitive (human)form. So, blessed be God, the best to create.
