I Knew Her..Yet I Didn’t

I knew her
Not a passing
Acquaintance
Nor a best
Friend
But someone
I quietly looked
Up to
A woman fighting
A real battle
A war
Against her body
Multiple Sclerosis
A savage beast
Trying
To destroy
A good soul.
I saw
A battle
Fought diligently
A battle that
Would bring
A giant to
Their
Knees.
I saw
The strength
And if
I looked deep
I could see
The
Pain
Hidden beneath
Smiling eyes.
I knew her
Yet I didn’t
Because
I could
Never understand
The pain hidden
Under gentle words
A strong Faith
And easy
Laughter.

This is a good poem. We always wait for the right kind of pain to depict something so beautiful. She's lucky to have you as a friend.. Keep her in your prayers.

Unfortunately we lost contact years ago, when she moved with family, needing care…

She was a remarkable woman, I wish I had gotten to know her better
