Pretty Arabian horses

Recently we stayed with friends on their Arabian horse stud. They live near Quinninup (another great West Australian name). They have twenty-three horses, including two stallions. There are also yearlings, two-year-olds and brood mares, plus a couple of adorable foals. They also have whippets. The daughter of the couple rides in endurance and recently completed 160 kms in a 24 hour period. She is tiny and weighs in (saddle and all) at about 60 kgs. She often travels to a ride on her own, sets up a yard for her horse and does all her own strapping of the horse before, during and after the ride. She has a daughter of her own who is equally at home among the horses. And now we’ve just heard that she has broken her arm. That will mean double the work for her mother and father.

Yes- lots of work and bother for the parents. The Horses look nice and remind me of The Black Beauty and some other Tales! "Quinninup" - Quee - nn - e - nup.... Now that would surely take some time to memorize!!

Oh, how sad that she broke her arm. Hope it’ll heal “normally” without any surgery required. Quinninup. I would ask where they got these names, but I live in a state with places like Paint Lick and Sugart*t. PS: You didn’t mention the waterfall in Quinninup!

Those are strange names indeed. We don't have any to match those! Thanks for the link. Quinninup Falls isn't anywhere near Quinninup but further south near Wilyabrup.

I hope your friends daughters arm heals. I would love to see your friends horse farm. One of the things I loved when we traveled to Kentucy to see my Dad when he was alive, was to go by all the beautiful horse farms.

I am sorry for the girl, I hope it's not too bad and they can fix her arm easily. All those horses are beautiful. Just curiosity, how much does a saddle weight?

Pint-sized though she is, she does all her own shoeing. The young mare kicked out and connected with her arm. She now has a six-inch plate in it.

horses are amazing - i love these. We used to wander down to horse country all the time when we lived in Indiana. (northern Kentucky is home to many large horse stables)
