Where does all the trash go after you take it to the dumpster?
The reality depicted in the images here showcase the current state of waste management, and how the items we discard are piling up all over the world.
This article made me very sad. Something I haven't stopped to think about.
The little boy above is looking for anything he can find to sell. His father is a garbage collector.
If you click the link, each photo has a caption underneath to describe what is going on and the country is listed.
So, if you think you are having a bad day, take a look here. It may change your mind. The link is safe and shows many photos.

You can see piles like this in Maryland. I don't think they even try to keep people out. It's actually something they used to show in schools. I'm not sure if they still do or not. It's when they were trying to get everyone to recycle and live more "green"

@CarolDM It is. That's why they used to push green living in school. I'm just not sure if they still do or not.

@JordanLader Probably not, they are too busy with other things in school now.

It's so irresponsible. Recently Walmart started wrapping paper towels individually in thin plastic within a package of several rolls which are then wrapped again in plastic! Why??? It's just more for the landfills at a time when most of us are recycling the best we can.

This is the same problem in India. Garbage management as well as sewerage water management from slums is posing a dangerous issue in every city.

What happens to waste depends on what kind of waste it is and where in the world you live. (Sometimes it depends on which city you live in, too.)
Every time you go to the grocery store, look at the wrapping on the different foods. Some companies have two or three different wrappings on one item of food.
We need to do something to get them to stop trying to "pretty up" the outside of things and just use enough wrapping to keep the item fresh enough to be used by the consumer.

@CarolDM We really need to think of a better way to handle our waste.

@CarolDM I liked the line " America is not the only culprit " because every country is doing the same, and another line " If plastic were a country it would be world's 5th largest ". This is a very serious issue and should be dealt in a proper way.

Thank you for the pictures. They are not shocking to me anymore because I have written many articles on pollution -- especially plastic pollution. I just wish more corporations were into recycling or harvesting discarded items.

Thanks for the link. Makes me think about the hike in fuel prices versus oil spillage/pollution in the sea.
