She sits next to me. She stares up at me. She purrs at me.
All of this display had one purpose (purrpose?). Little kitty wanted for me to share my dinner.
Being the well-trained human that I am, I offered her a tiny morsel of my tortilla. She sniffed it. Nope. Not good enough.
Yes, but wasn't she just insisting that I share? At no point did I say, "Here, you must eat a bite of my food." Besides, I only offered her a bite, since she does enjoy the odd bite of carbs.
Oh, and her brother decided to sniff her discarded bite. He wasn't having any of it, either. They would both prefer that I cook them a nice bit of salmon instead.
Did I mention that this was my dinner and that they have their own? Cats...

Is it that she is now a senior, or has she simply outgrown her puppy phase where everything seems like a good idea?

@simone10 Perhaps, she has reached a new level of refinement?

@wilsongoddard I'm not sure. She is 6 years old and just last year she would eat anything.

With the exception of chease, my cats really aren't into people food. Except for my late cat, Precious. He would eat any food we had, if we didn't put him elsewhere.

She usually isn't quite so persistent, but she seemed like she really wanted a bite of tortilla. That's why I gave in.

It isn't routine for ours. Much of what we eat doesn't interest them, since we are vegetarians. However, carbs and dairy can get us some serious fuzzy attention.

@wilsongoddard Sonny is about 12 now. He is hungry all the time. I am a bit worried about him but also am stretched on the cost of Vet bills.

@sallypup Is he trying to get into the refrigerator? Or onto your dinner plate? If so, his thyroid needs checked. Hyperactive thyroid makes them crazily food obsessed.

It made me start questioning whether I should have been eating it, since two-out-of-two cats declared it "icky."

I've no salmon to cook for them, but they think that their vegetarian kitty mama should be in the kitchen cooking them such things. Alternatively, I may move us to a small fishing village somewhere, and they can make friends with the local fishermen.
