I have a project for today!

My favorite all-purpose glasses were broken a couple of months ago. I'll describe how in a separate post. It was an odd incident. I discovered yesterday that the Crazy Glue I bought does not adhere to glass, so I will try a different method today. I'll attach a picture later in the day, just for dramatic effect. The rechargeable batteries in my camera are dead. Have you ever tried to repair broken glasses? How successful were you?

Definitely let us know how you were able to fix them. I broke my favorite pair of glasses last night. I was going to try and use super glue today to fix them. I don't have much confidence that the super glue will work, but I want to try something before I give up and go buy a new pair of glasses.

The stuff I have does not appear to adhere to glass, or whatever my lenses are made of. But it should work on plastic to plastic. I'm going try to put the lens in and crazy glue the plastic that surrounds the lens.

@TheHorse I need to reattach the plastic where the hinges are, so I need to glue the plastic to the metal. Not sure how strong super glue would be for that purpose.

@moffittjc Plastic to metal. I'd get the best stuff you can find. I admit that mine was an impulse purchase at the Dollar Tree. Let me see if I have batteries yet.

Thankfully, no, I’ve never had to repair glasses beyond tightening the screws in the frames. But I have a spare pair around the house, just in case there’s a first time.

@FourWalls That do. Do you remember this song? It was one of my favorites when was six. I may record it today.
From 'The Kingston Trio (Nick-Bob-John)'.

NO, I never did, I put back lenses that came out from the frame, but this is not difficult.

@TheHorse I never arrived to repair glass in a way that it does not show it was repaired. May be those who repair the cars windshields could.

@LadyDuck So far, my repair has been successful. I can't find the "before" photo I took. It's on my computer somewhere.

No, not since I have been an adult. My prescription has not been changing, so when I get the new, I save the old. I use E6000 on mends of all kinds of things. It needs drying time, but I have never glued my fingers together using it.

E6000? I'll have to look that up. Where do you get it?

Nothing beyond quick makeshift fixes (i.e., tape) to be able to function long enough to get them to the experts. My ongoing battle with my glasses is that I cannot get the lenses to stay clean. I've never had this problem before with glasses despite my generally lackadaisical approach to their care, but this pair seems to perpetually have that issue even though I've taken better care of this pair than any of my previous ones.

Yeah, mine get cloudy too. Perhaps it's the miracle finishes they put on them these days.

No I haven't done that but I wonder you can glue that plastic body to metal hinges.

I had mistakenly stepped on my sister's glasses which got crushed beyond repair so had to completely replace them.

I once repaired the glasses that my father had, but it only glued the broken handle because it was made of plastic.
