Folks here that'd know a bit 'bout me 're 'ware the hubs'd a herd 'f feral cats he'd tended fer some years. 'tis been a rough year fer 'em, 've lost 29 thus far. Some ran o'er, others brutally murdered by one 'f the neighbors dogs. 'f which they claim they've no pup...which I 'xplained that if'n said non-'xistent pup came 'nto my property 'gain, they'd definitely not've one any longer. The eldest son'd come by 'round the 1st 'f October to lend a hand with some schtuff 'n whilst leavin' through the garages heard a kitten with distress. Logically, he proceeded to bring the wee thingy to me. Meet Mr. Toby. 'bout 2 weeks ol' 't the time. Seems his momma 'twas the Siamese I found deceased the day prior. No idea if'n any siblings 's we found none 'fter 'xtensive search. He's now 8 weeks 'n full 'f vim 'n vigor. I'm glad 'f such coz I lost 2. Seems ya can't e'en get a vet 'ppointment fer emergencies here. The 2 week wait 'twas 5 days 2 long.

Very happy to see you here again. Sorry about all the loss. It sounds like a hard year. But that little guy is adorable and will hopefully give you lots of love. Its getting very hard to get a vet around here too without breaking the bank at least for emergencies.

@crazyhorseladycx He sounds adorable and just what you need. We only have one livestock vet anywhere close and they are taking advantage of that. Several regular pet vets and I can get in decent to see them. But I always tried to keep all of the animals with one. Means I just need to learn more I guess. Glad they gave you that so you have it now.

aw, thanks. he's currently 'nto the climb e'erythin' stage which keeps me'n my toes. he decided i need not sleep 'lone. when 'tis near bedtime he comes'n licks me'n the nose :) we'd'n emergency vet office 'til last year. the pandemic proved too much? 's proven diff'cult to 'xplain the necessity fer one'n the weekends 'n 't night. this clinic aint too bad'n the price 'n the gals 're great. they'd great guilt o'er the 2 i'd lost coz i'd no antibiotics. gave me 2 bottles fer me to mix 'n case any more showed'p. which's good coz one 'tis bein' used currently fer 'nother.

Wow, you're back. YaY. What a wee cutie but really sorry you've lost so many and that the wee kitty lost it's momma. People need to control their kritters as best as they can to prevent them getting into a neighbors yard.

fer a bit 'nyhow, thought i'd try rejoinin' the livin' to see how such goes... thanks, hon. i dunno why they denied such beast belonged to 'em?? took me several months to figure where 't lived. showed 'em the very graphic pics 'n they'd no remorse nor empathy fer such brutality. e'en the sheriff 'twas not sympathetic, but did due diligence goin' door to door.

Bummer. So many people don't like cats for some reason. I just don't get that as they are Gods creations and should be respected regardless.

@rebelann i've found that if'n such 'tis not their critter, they purty much don't care. others figure they live out'ta city limits'n can let their critters come/go 'n do's they please with no reflection 'pon their humans.

@LadyDuck lots passed i'm quite certain. 'tis the 'norm' fer the momma cats to've 4 kittens each'n the spring. bein' feral, ya don't see the kittens nor 've any inklin' where they'd be stashed 'til they're big 'nough to eat cat food. most lost all their 1st litters 'n delivered more - 'f which they mostly lost those, too. there'd be jest 2 left from the spring batch, 3 ('ncludin' the 2'n the house now) from the last. most 'f the beautiful calicoes 've perished.

i reckon the universe felt the same. i wish i could'a saved the other 2 found, but without antibiotics what i could do fer 'em 'twas not 'nough. tore my heart out more. the son did find 'nother, i'll pen 'bout that later if'n i recall. they'll be 'f some comfort hopefully when i part with the resident pup. i've been postponin' such fer near a year now... she doesn't seem to be'n any pain, but her urine 'tis either cranberry 'r bright red :( the vets office keeps sayin' they don't wish to see her 'til thingies change, i struggle with such.

@CarolDM ah, life 'tis filled with struggles fer all i reckon. 'tis our perception 'f such - half full 'r empty? i seem to've lost my positive 'ttitude. truly 'ppreciate 't, hon. 've found myself totally secluded. the kittens've helped a bit, though carin' fer 'em prevented me from gettin' much else done fer several weeks, lol. not complainin', jest sayin'. my house now resembles one with wee young'uns. toys 'f all sorts strewn from room to room. ya pick'em all'p when they nap jest fer 't to start 'new 'pon their wakin'. they're currently 'top my boot snoozin', when sleepy they wish to be quite close.

Mr. Toby is a real cutie. Y'know, if they don't claim to have a dog and you were to kill such dog for coming on your property and killing the cats, they shouldn't complain then, should they if they lose a dog. Seems logical to me.

he's a live wire now, lol. full 'f mischief. yes ma'am, that'd be what the sheriff told all 'f the neighbors. still 'ncertain who's pup, got a grainy pic 'f such leavin' here one 'fternoon. mr. rocky 'lerted me to his presence. i dislike killin' critters when 'tis the owners fault. lack 'f trainin', proper care so's the human 'tis the true entity to blame. but, once they taste blood thingies get really horrific...

'tis been'n awful 12 months fer certain. their denial said pup 'twas theirs made me quite cranky. 'fter the went 'round 'n 'xplained to all that i'd rights to shoot said pup if'n found'n my property 'gain, i aint seen 't since. took some months to get the sheriff to do 't. so many lives could'a been saved otherwise.

GOOD TO SEE YOU BACK ! So many losses . Glad you and your son were able to save Mr. Toby. Sounds like he's thriving so well, but I know that vet access is so necessary . . . is there a shortage of vets or is it because of covid protocols still?

@crazyhorseladycx Go numb - oh yah, I can relate to that for sure. Ah, life. Long road for some of the critters, but glad they have done well under your care. I heard from friends that appointments were too far into the calendar and that many had to leave their pets there - I'm sure that caused a lot of stress on the pets (and humans) too. What a crazy few years it's been (and still).

aw thanks, hon. 'tis been a pile 'f the such the past few years, both human 'n critter. my 'nly defense to jest go numb to 't all. sure 't'll catch'p with me someday... mr. toby 'tis a very healthy year ol' cat now, 'long with mr. alex. 't the time, 'twas most diff'cult to get 'ppointments due to covid. emergencies 'nly, seems they didn't feel these feral kittens the top 'f their list, but 't least 2 made 't. we used to've actually emergency vet services prior to covid. i fear that shut down 'n still's no to be.
