The Boss made an announcement at lunch today

After he bought us all lunch he announced the he is retiring at the end of the year and his son, who works with us, is taking over the business.
When I started at the company 35 years ago his Dad was the boss. His Dad passed away 5 years later and my now boss took over the company. We have been through a lot together. We are a small company with less then 10 employees so we are all pretty close. Most of us have been here awhile.
I knew he was planning to leave in a few years but he took me by surprise when he said he is leaving at the end of the year.
There will be big changes around here once his son takes over. I really hope it is all for the better. I guess time will tell.

@Happy2BeMe understandable! You've gotten to know him and like him as your boss, which can be hard to do

I hope the changes go well. It is always a shock when a long time employee, let alone the boss, leaves.

Yes it is. I knew it was coming eventually but didn't realize it would happen so soon. I will miss him when he is not here.

He will be keeping an eye on things for at least a year because his son gets complete control.

@Happy2BeMe That's pretty typical. My brother-in-law started a business from scratch and after a couple of decades he sold it, but he went in faithfully every day for the entire day for 2.5 years as they had made that part of the sale.

Sometimes the new bosses try to prove harsh, hope it doesn't happen at your work
