I can honestly say I like to eat most fruits except one. That happens to be Persimmons. I had never tried it until recently when we ordered one in our Misfits Box. I had read to let it get real soft before you eat it and it would be sweet. If you don't let it ripen enough, it can have a bitter after taste. Well, it got really soft before my husband and I tried it and it was sweet but still had a bitter after taste. I won't buy another one. Is there a fruit you hate?
Here is a ripe persimmon close up and taste test. If you've never tried one before, I highly encourage you to try this delicious fruit. It has a unique flavo...

I've never seen a persimmon with red flesh before. I loved the orange fleshed ones that grew on our farm when I was growing up. (We had to fight with the raccoons and 'possums to get any of them once they ripened. If you picked them before they were ripe, even if you let them get soft, they weren't as good as they could have been.) I dislike star fruit. Those always taste like juicy cardboard to me. (And cheap cardboard, at that.)

@LeaPea2417 I've had kidney problems for years and star fruit can cause more lasting problems with a person's kidneys because of some of the chemicals present in the fruit. (It turns out better for me that I dislike them. *shrug*)

@DaddyEvil I forgot to mention that when I'm having a kidney stone, I drink cranberry juice because it helps but I don't really like it.

@xander6464 Blueberries work well in ice cream and I love them in bagels, too.

I'll eat blueberries and blackberries raw but will only eat cranberries after they've been dried. I also like blueberries cooked in pies.

I had these, once, in a restaurant many years ago. It was served in syrup, so I am guessing that hid any bitterness

I don't know if there is a fruit I dislike, there are so many I haven't tried so there might be one. I have never had a persimmon so I don't know if I would like it or not, I like bitter, so maybe!

Have you ever eaten a banana while the skin is still more green than yellow? The astringent taste of a not-quite-ripe banana is the same flavor that a persimmon has after it's fully ripe. I prefer bananas that are still not ripe.

@DaddyEvil That isn't so bad, It is not my favorite way to have a banana, but it doesn't bother me that much haha so I might not think a persimmon is too bad.

Persimmons are better if they are cooked. Look up recipes for persimmon pudding or persimmon cookies, both are really good. They are just too bitter by themselves.

I have never tried a persimmon, but I would eat it in a dessert,. I think the tang would be balanced out by the sugar.

I don't like those as well, and also any sour or bitter fruits. i love bananas and ripe mangoes. Also Kalinga oranges the seedless type, which are extra sweet and rich with vitamins and nutrients.

I like watermelon. But once as a kid I was shocked , my friends parents put salt on watermelon! I told my mom and she said that it is not uncommon, some people like salt on watermelon.

I love persimmons, I have a tree in my yard. I used to eat it with cinnamon. There are different types, mine are sweet and even my kids love it.

I know, I don't care for them too. There's a crispy & sweet perssimon, Fuyu Perssimon. I like the crisp & sweet flavor of this perssimon. I always get one when in season, usually see it right before autumn.

@LeaPea2417 You're welcome. I just bought this Fuyu Perssimon today, it was chilling. Going to devour it after mylotting. Just finished eating perssimon, it was a bit too soft for my taste. As I was choosing it, it had a bit of tenderness, but mostly firm. Next time, I'm getting a much firmer one for I like it crunchy.

I’ve never seen on in person nor have I tasted one. Did you chill it in the fridge first? I think all fruits taste better chilled.

@LeaPea2417 I’d stick it back in the fridge for an hour at least for best flavor. The only fruit I leave out is bananas. Everything else tastes better cold from the fridge.

There is some sweetness but it is overpowered by a bitter after taste.
