A dog alerts a family of a house fire by barking to wake them up

A stray dog who lives in Big Stone Gap Virginia is being praised for his ability to alert his owners Charity Galloway and her two children that her house had caught fire on the outside front wall of their home on Thursday morning by barking loudly. Charity knew that she and her loved ones had to leave their home as soon as possible before it would be too late for them to make it out alive. After Charity and her children were able to leave their burning home, she called the Valley Volunteer Fire Department to ask them to put out the fire in their home. The cause of the fire was an electric lamp that was used to keep Butter warm caught fire close to the home according to one of the firefighters. What makes this story even sweeter is that when a photograph of volunteer firefighter Jason Stidham made it to Facebook, the discovery was made that Butter ran away from home in the Summer from his previous home. Charity had a chat with the original owners of Butter who reached an agreement to return Butter back to his owners who named their dog Cooper. In some stories where dogs and cats go missing, the journey of the lost pet winds up that the pet winds up living with another family for a while before being able to reunite with their original owners. Charity will miss the company of Cooper. But the time she spent with her stray dog will last in her memory like a school yearbook. The damage of the home was minor since the Galloway family will still be able to stay in their home until repairs to their home will be made soon.
