Happiness is appreciating what you have.

Sometimes, I hear people say they are happy because of a certain person, or certain event. While this is true, it's also true that happines is a choice. We choose to be happy with that person or that event. And we can only do that if we appreciate the small things that we have or that are around us. I stay happy daily by counting my blessings: I have a roof over my head, a shirt on my back, and a family that cares for me. It's like saying a pauper can be happy with a cent in his hand, than a rich man who has millions. It is because the pauper has chosen to be happy by appreciating the cent in his hand. Happiness does not depend on wealth, fame or fortune, it all depends on you, your mind, your positive perception of things, and your appreciation of what you have. Any thoughts?

I totally agree. Nothing in this world can make one happy unless he choses to be. Nothing is ever enough if you are looking for reasons to be happy. There are enough blessings to count and be grateful to the Almighty for all that.

You are absolutely right, I think happiness all depends on individuals, i have been the happiest because i just told myself i will be happy no matter what.I am in a season where i dont even have a job, my income stream is very low, I have nothing that i can show of my life, but i am just very happy and on daily basis i get people asking me whats making me so happy, i simply tell them that my choice to be happy makes me happy.

That's pretty commendable of you. You deserve to be happy because of your optimism. I'm sure you have a positive influence on people around you. Let you be a guiding light for them to follow.

But appreciating what you have shouldn't stop you for wanting to get more. Don't let it kill ambition..
