My cousin Lost His Battle to HLH But what is HLH?

I like the way my cousin described HLH better but in order to understand the condition I thought I'd share the more technical definition. Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is an inherited disease of the immune system. It's known as a "primary immunodeficiency." The body's immune system fights off infections and anything else it sees as foreign invaders to the body. In HLH, the body makes too many immune cells. My cousin was diagnosed in July and Passed away yesterday morning at 2:55 am. He's greatly missed!

@Michellekidwell But I think there are other "overly aggressive immune system" disorders out there.

@TheHorse There are many, this one is rarer than.most, there are 12 doctors in the U.S that specialize in it, one at Stanford.

I really don't know he wasn't sick for long and it's rare there are only like 12 doctors in the country who specialize in HLH

That's so sad. In Islam we say, God took him because he loved him so much. May he rest in peace.

So sorry to hear that. It is the first time I heard of this medical condition but the symptoms seem familiar as there are indeed many different immuno-deficiency conditions out there. It is just sad how fast the problem has progressed since its diagnosis. My condolences to you and his family and loved ones.

I'm sorry about this and honestly sad to know that he's gone. When I read the title at the beginning, I thought HLH was some kind of online game or something, it turned out to be your cousin's fight with his own life. very sad. he must have fought hard to fight his illness, but now he is at peace with God.

many of us go quietly in silence leaving behind many memories, I pray for anyone who is sick out there, hopefully they can win the battle against that disease and I'm sure you will win
