Snow Might be Coming

United States

I LOVE snow. Growing up in New England I loved the snow in Wintertime. Seven years ago we moved to North Georgia in the US. Now we are lucky to get 1 to 3 snowstorms a year. They bring anywhere from 1/2 inch to 4 inches of snow. I run outside and dance around in it and take photos. I probably look like a nut. Last year we had 2 snowstorms and one was on Christmas Eve so that was wonderful. All of last week the weather was rainy and in the 6o's. Now it is 59 and they say we may be getting snow at 3 am and it will snow until 7 am. I can't figure out how we will get snow when it is still this warm at 9:30 pm, but I will take it if it comes. Does it snow where you live?

I loved snow until I broke my ankle in it. I’ve been watching the weather, it does look like northern Georgia is going to have a little “white stuff.” It does snow here in Kentucky, causing a massive catastrophe when it does. I have enough chicken soup in the pantry to open my own store, just in case.

@FourWalls That's what they are predicting for us. But I don't know if I believe them. It's 56 degrees here at 11:20. Seems crazy that we will have snow soon. Good for you on the chicken soup. Good to be prepared.

@Kouponkaren — it’s on the way. The weatherman in Birmingham Alabama showed a photo where someone wrote “it was 80 degrees yesterday?!” In the snow on his car.

@FourWalls Yes, I thought the weather people were crazy yesterday when they predicted snow and it was so warm here. But I guess they were right...finally!

Yes, it snows here. I checked my forecast and it looks like we'll get snow on Wednesday. I hope so. They're calling for an 80% chance so it's likely. I hope you get snow. I can imagine growing up in New England you would miss it living in Georgia.

@just4him We just got a dusting. Not enough for me but it looked pretty on the rooftops when I woke up this morning.

@Kouponkaren It's definitely possible. And some winters I can believe that we get that amount of snow.

@dodo19 I am jealous of the canceled school days for the kids, sitting by a warm fire with a cup of hot cocoa and watching the snow come down, but not jealous of the snow shoveling that must go on!

@wolfgirl569 Okay sent it over, or down, or whatever! One year we had 7 inches in a storm and I was beyond thrilled. My husband wasn't because we were stuck at home for a few days until they could clear the roads. I loved hunkering down with the fireplace and the snow outside.

It snows here in Connecticut, but under normal circumstances, we spend our winters in Florida.

@Kouponkaren After a blizzard in 2013, we bought a condo in Palm Beach County and a few years ago, became Florida residents. Gorgeous paradise down there. Last winter, we stayed in our son’s place in Vermont and skied. He sold it.

@DianneN We left Connecticut 7 years ago and even at that time it was snowy enough for me there. Maybe I will have to move to somewhere with more snow at some point. My dream is to live in VT. Now, THEY have a lot of snow up there.

I didn't think any part of Georgia got snow, shows ya what I know. Every few years or so we do get snow and usually it either arrives around Thanksgiving or in late January or early February ...... I'm no fan of snow, gimme sunshine pleeeeze.

Snow is alright, but in the UK as soon as it looks like snow, everything grinds to a halt!

@Ronrybs I live in a mountain community in the Southern part of the US. The same happens here. People are very afraid of the snow here and stay home for the most part. The facilities like the fitness center and pub all close down until the roads are free of snow and ice. I am from CT and we are not afraid of a bit of snow. But the way they don't know how to drive here in the snow is scary so we stay home also until the roads are safe.

It very rarely snows where I am, but just a little higher elevation it does. Recently there were several large winter storms that shut down the roads over the Sierra between Sacramento and Reno, and I was stuck at my dad's until the roads were clear. I'm not terribly fond of living in snow, but I like going to visit it just to play a little and then go home. :-)

@dawnald That's nice...you can go visit and leave when you feel like it. I hope it was okay that you got stuck at your Dad's. Did it mess things up for you?
3 Jan 22
Here in Alabama yesterday it was in the 80's here and we were in shorts. Last night it hit the 30's, and we had ice and snow! Not anything major. But what it did snow, it actually stuck! I am not a fan of the cold, but of course I play in it with my kiddo!

@Boyomma We just got a dusting of snow last night. I took a photo which I will put on later with a post. O love snow and I think if it's going to be cold, we might as well have some snow to go with it!
