No longer sleeping on my own

Just to bring everyone up to date – Vince, my husband, came out of hospital yesterday. He has to see his GP and cardiologist again for more tests and a reappraisal of his medications.
He has atrial fibrillation which are fancy words for an irregular heart-beat, as in very irregular. This increases the risk of blood clots so he has to go on to blood thinners.
One of the reasons we moved to the capital was so we’d be closer to specialist medical services but we didn’t really expect to need them quite so soon. It’s only a 15-minute drive from where we now live. The stay in hospital didn’t cost us anything but I think they recoup their expenses with their parking fees.
The hospital is huge and, after leaving Vince the first night, I took a wrong turn somewhere within the building, came out a different door and ended up having to walk right round the block to get back to the car park.
The photo is a mosaic made up of hundreds of tiny photographs. My Mum was so impressed with it that she had it framed.

I hope the doctors control his fibrillation. It seems to be scary, but very common.
When hubs had surgery several years ago, I had the same problem in the parking garage. Fortunately, there was no charge for me as his spouse coming and going.
Cool mosaic!

That's so wonderful that he was well enough to come home. Hope he continues to improve.
That's a very cool photo. Did Vince make it?

@JudyEv That is amazing! Do you remember what program or site that makes those?

Vince and our son made it for his 60th birthday. It's just on 6 sheets of A4, sticky-taped together but my mum thought it was just amazing. Here is a detail from near the hairline. You might be able to make out the individual photos. There is a computer programme that does it for you. You upload a heap of photos and then the programme does its magic.

That is a cool mosaic. Is that a picture of Vince? My mother had blood clots and it was not much fun. An irregular heartbeat is not good. That is great that you are closer to medical specialists and you are right that it is not much fun to need them right away instead of later. I hope if his medications are not good for him that his GP will find the right ones for him.

@oahuwriter I'm not sure that would help as I took the wrong exit and ended up on the wrong side of the building then I was completely disoriented.

I hope they get his a-fib under control quickly and easily, with medication instead of surgery. I know you’re glad to have him home.

@JudyEv — I hope that works. My aunt’s a-fib was controlled with medication, so I pray that does the trick for Vince as well! You take care of him…and take care of yourself, too. Illness in the family affects everyone with stress and worry.

@FourWalls You're quite right. I'm still trying to come to terms with living within such confined spaces. At least now help is much closer now and we're not so far from really good care.

That is a pretty sharp looking photo.
I'm glad that you are exactly where you both need to be for medical reasons.
Our hospital here is so large that it is like a small city.
Parking is priced outrageously also.
I am happy for you both that he is back home again where he should be.

Thanks very much. This is one reason we were going to move - to be closer to specialists, etc. as we have no children to call on if we need help. We do have friends and family but all are about as old as we are and it's not really the same.

I'm so glad Vince is home again. I hope the doctor can get his meds worked out.
I'm not going to tease you about getting lost in the building. Pretty and I did that a couple of weeks ago and had to walk several blocks to get back to the lot our car was in.

@JudyEv I made the mistake but Pretty didn't say anything at the time. We both got lost.

I'm so glad Vince is back home! Plus, the specialists will get to the root of this serious issue, with his heart rhythm.
When Chad my son was hospitalized(a car accident), I kept going in circles through the same exact hallway! They were remodeling and I kept getting lost in their confusing maze!

@JudyEv I had no idea where I was. Yet, my family asked, 'Where were you, we were beginning to worry?'

@kobesbuddy Haha - what part of 'lost' didn't they understand? However, I know it's not really funny.

Awesome photo treatment. Bob, my hubby has a fib, which caused a stroke, damaged his heart. He has a pace maker defibrillator that regulates it. Because of bleeding issues and anemia he no longer takes blood thinners other than the 81 mg. aspirin. Just keep on top of things. I am glad you are closer to your medical providers.

All Bob's problems could quite likely become Vince's but we'll see how it goes. One of the first things for Vince is to try to work out why his iron and Vitamin B12 levels are a bit low. It could be because of the other tablets he is taking. It's good in a way that it's come to a head. And thanks, yes, we'll be trying to keep on top of things.

So happy for you now Judy that Vince is home. Bless.
I know the good docs will take good care..
Isn't it a blessing you moved before all this happened?

It was one of the reasons we moved - to have access to good medical care although we did have a major hospital not too far away. But most of the good specialists are in Perth.
