Day 213 Psalm 119 Psalm 119:12 Blessed art thou, O LORD: teach me thy statutes. (KJV) Life is a learning process. We want to learn as much as we can in as short a time as possible. What do you want to know? People can learn whatever their heart’s desire dictates. The psalmist blessed God and then asked Him to teach him. He wanted to know God’s laws. To know God’s laws is a lengthy process. There are 613 commandments. He wanted to know and understand all of them. As Christians, you don’t need to know the laws, but it is good to know what they are. Incorporated in the laws are the ten commandments and many others that deal with how to interact with each other. Many people are under the impression that the Law of Moses is no longer in effect because Jesus fulfilled the law. Jesus fulfilled the law of the sacrifice for sin. The two commandments He said we were to obey have never been rescinded. Matthew 22:35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked Him a question, tempting Him, and saying, 36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” When you obey these two commandments, you obey all of them. Likewise, if you break one commandment, you break all. James 2:8 If ye fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself, ye do well: 9 But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. 10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. The psalmist knew he blessed God when he learned all he could of God’s laws. When was the last time you blessed God by learning all you could of His Word? Psalm 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. (KJV) Start today by learning God’s Word and making it part of your life. Then you will know what God requires of you. Let’s pray: Father, help me study Your Word so I will know Your heart and not sin against You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Amen. The commandments are easy and simple yet challenging to obey in tough times and when tempted. I'm so happy Jesus came to fulfill the law. Now all we need to do is love God and people
