The Geneva meeting between US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov ended with a meeting aimed at easing the situation on the Russian border with Ukraine.
One of the burning discussions was the withdrawal of NATO troops from Romania.
These are the withdrawal of foreign forces, equipment and weapons, as well as other steps to return to the configuration that was in 1997 on the territory of countries that were not members of NATO at that time.
These include Bulgaria and Romania.
Will NATO do this?

@soymex Perfect description, they are like kids bragging about their candies and we are in the middle. Italy still has many American bases and now the population want to know exactly the terms of the agreements with the Italian Government.

It wouldn't be the case under Obama or Trump but Biden is soft and detatched.
Without the US Administration holding Russia in check and backing up NATO, Russia will do as it pleases, just like CCP.
It could get bumpy.
How do YOU feel about NATO forces in Romania?
Protection or occupation?

I was just curious if you felt that Russia had eyes on reclaiming her former territories and the NATO presence was a deterrent or the presence represented a foreign force occupying your country.
Russia has made no secret that they intend to reclaim Ukraine. If NATO has no presence in Romania, what will prevent Russia from moving to restore another piece of the bloc?

@Vikingswest1 And with the military bases, here, if a war is to start, we will be the first to be involved!

I don't know if it's an occupation! There are 3 American bases in Romania. But I don't see any protection! Romania has no conflicts with Russia! It is the discussion between the USA and Russia, we are in the middle!
All this boils down to the two great powers. and their interests!

They finally can't hide their evil tails.Russia,Cathay and their colonies"Iran","North Korea","Myanmar","Taliban" and "Kazakhstan" all come out to support and strengthen the Totalitarian System. They want to turn the whole world into a New Nazi World that let people always live under the slavery, tyranny and Red Terror.
It's the Final War between Freedom Countries and those Evil Nazi countries(Especially Cathay,he's the head of these countries,Russia is his biggest backup).NATO can't submit to the force of Russia. If they retreat from Romania like USA retreated from the Afghanistan.Nazi will rise, and finally it will destroy every freedom country and bring the whole human being into the darkest period.
Russia is very rude and crazy, but it still has the bottomline. The most dangerous country is Cathay. This is a pure Nazi country. They have 1.4 billions of people to be their slaves and they use every ways to colonize and spread their Red-Nazi system in those poor and little countries. They even invaded USA,UK and the other European Countries. They use money, hostages and power to seduce or force the freedom countries to accept their Red-Nazi System.
The freedom countries have to quarantine Cathay and its rulers.Let Cathay become Second North Korea, the whole freedom Countries will be saved. As for Russia, without Cathay,he is just a paper tiger. If he dares to cross the line,he will be Second Mussolini.

@soymex No,but Nazi will make war no matter how you think. They has let Taliban conquer the Afghanistan, the warlords rule the Myanmar, and help those tyrant in Kazakhstan and Venezuela to suppress the freedom protest.
Now they want to turn Hungary,Serbia into the Nazi countries and let them support the anti-human crimes of Cathay and Russia.Gradually, they'll invade Romania,Ukraine etc.
When they become invincible, the Nazi will rise, they will start the war to let the whole world submit to their totalitarian like what they did to Afghanistan and Myanmar.
How should the freedom Countries do?Do the freedom countries make war to Cathay or Russia? It's wrong.I think Freedom countries should do somethings to protect themself:
1,Be careful of the Russia's Invasion, don't let his power stretch to Europe.
2,Quarantine Cathay, this is the most evil Red Nazi Country. It's more dangerous and crazier than Russia.
3,Try to help those protesters in totalitarian countries, but just help with the voice, never use any weapon or troop.
4,Don't buy anything from Cathay,Don't trust Chinese people,Don't let Communist Party take the power.Communist Party will turn your country into a hell like Stalin's Soviet,Kim's North Korea.
5,Defend your democracy and freedom by any means.Freedom is more than your life.Without the freedom, you'll live like Chinese people which are just the slaves of Communist Party
6,The freedom countries should unite together. Then Nazi will fear you.In World War 2,France and Britain chose not to help Czech, finally Hitler rose and became the dragon of the Europe. No one could defeat him. This time, freedom countries couldn't repeat the mistake. You should unite together to quarantine Cathay and try to stop the invasion of Russia.
Surely, that's my personal opinions.I don't know the military and politics.I just think it's the best way that Freedom Countries can protect their precious freedom.

Kinda like my country now were between China and US. But looks like China is gaining water grounds over the years. Sounds like Russia is making a huge come back.

Why would the Russians impose on Romania to withdraw NATO troops there? If Romania would agree then I have no questions about that but Russians should only be concerned if it is within their territory to make their decision to retain or not NATO troops in their territory and should not be influenced by their neighbor.
