No, I'm not a hunter. So maybe I don't get to have an opinion. But my very first successful discussion here at myLot back in 2008 was about hunting. So I thought I'd post my thoughts again and see if I get a similar response to what I got back then. Original, not copy/paste. Also, I can't find the original discussion. MyLot has changed how it's organized, and it's harder to go back and find things.
Anyway, at the time what I said was that I wasn't opposed to hunting under certain conditions. Hunting legally, for food, among populations of animals who aren't endangered or threatened, totally OK. Hunting illegally, on someone else's property, hunting animals that are protected, canned hunts, trophy hunts, not OK.
In fact, I'd go so far as to say that trophy hunting is an abomination. I'm not talking about a deer hunt for meat where you also save the antlers, the hide, etc. I'm talking about killing an animal solely for the skin, horns, gall bladder, etc. where you just leave the body to rot. Not OK.
Hunting endangered animals for trophies, absolutely shameful.
That's my not so humble opinion anyway. What do you all think?

Hunting legally for food is perfectly fine.
Anything else is worse than shameful.
Sick and disgusting come to mind.

I agree that hunting endangered animals is the absolute pits. So many creatures are becoming extinct because of such selfish hunters.
