My niece made my day

Yesterday morning I woke up to my daughter having left a wet washcloth on the windowsill again. It has peroxide on it and it ruined the wood. Photo is of the spot on the windowsill that is ruined. Her glasses had broken the night before and rather then write all about the hassle of that I’ll say I had my father run to the store for me (my car is in the garage getting worked on) and get an eyeglass kit. None of the screws in it fit her glasses so I wired them together for now so she can use them. One of the research panels I am part of offered me a $10 Amazon e-gift card to watch an Amazon preview movie. The movie was okay but it was fun getting paid basically to watch it. The highlight of the day was my niece telling me the fettuccine I made her was delicious! A few weeks ago she told me she would pay me to make her some. I wouldn’t take her money for that so I picked up the ingredients last week when I went shopping. She since came down with Coronavirus and I figured she wouldn’t be able to taste anything. I texted her about it yesterday and she said she can test everything she has eaten fine except one thing a bean dip. So yesterday she asked me if I would be able to make it for her and she would pick it up. I was worried since she hadn’t had it in years that she wouldn’t like it but she loved it. It made my day.

I don't know how to fix peroxide stains. But I'm glad your niece loved the pasta!

She might need to Polish it on top of it. I don't think water or liquid soap will clear it

@DaddyEvil Yeah may be. I need to ask my dad if he can have a look at the stain and share some views on cleaning it. @shaggin You want to make it appear as Leaf ? You need any volunteers ? I am good with creating more mess I can make it look like Jungle at the end including the table

I am so glad your niece loved your fettuccine. Shame for the stain on your windowsill, may be you can find a wood stain to re-color the area.

@LadyDuck if I get more time in the summer I think I can fix where the wood was bleached from the peroxide. I’ll have to ask my niece if she wants the recipe for it. I think I offered before and she didn’t she just wanted me to make it for her. She cooks enough at work she probably doesn’t like doing it when she’s home.

@LadyDuck I absolutely hated cooking until my oldest were little. If my first husband wouldn’t cook for me before that I didn’t eat. I love to cook now.

@shaggin - With a little more time I hope you can fix it. My niece was the same, when I asked if she wanted a recipe, she asked me to cook for her.

That is a kind thing to do and happy that your niece loved the Alfredo so much. As for the wood discoloration, my dad used to get these wood stain markers. They can in a bunch of different finish colors and worked just like a magic marker. Sometimes they wouldn't match perfectly, but was less obvious than the discoloration. Not sure where he got them though

@FayeHazel I do have one of those markers that I used in my daughters room but it would be way to dark for this. I bet I still have the original stain that was used but I will have to wait until summer to test the stains I have our on a scrap piece of wood to figure out which one in the cellar matches this.

@sol_cee it’s my daughters favorite food for me to make. She’s also the world pickiest eater so she doesn’t eat much that I make

@Janet357 I got invited to join this program I’m not even sure if it’s something one can request to join. I usually don’t get any offers from them but when I do I enjoy it. $10 to watch a movie is pretty sweet!

Okay, sorry but I have to ask: Why does your daughter have a habit of leaving wet washcloths with peroxide on them on the wooden windowsill?

@KouponKaren first about your name… are you a coupon queen? I don’t know why she leaves wet ones there so often. Our sink is a small pedestal one so there’s no counter to set anything on so she uses the windowsill then forgets about it I guess. She was using the peroxide on a wart. I’ve told her so many times not to leave the washcloths there and I’m frustrated now the wood is ruined like I told her would happen if she kept it up.

@carina75 I’ll definitely work on it in the summer. I don’t like to use any stains and sealers without having windows open and it’s only 7°F here
