Now I'm an engineer again :)

It's been a long while that I have not posted any discussion here because I've been busy with many things especially with meetings relative to our ongoing hotel project which we hope to be finished by June. As the main hotel building is nearing completion, we are also undertaking the construction of an annex building on a lot that we purchased while construction of the main building was in progress. There's so much catching up to do with the many projects in line which have been greatly affected and stalled because of the pandemic. In fact, our hotel contractor has requested for a time extension of 18 days because of the super typhoon that ravaged our province last month. This is in addition to the 90 days extension they requested while I was away in New Zealand. I got amused again yesterday afternoon as I was going inside the office for our coordination meeting with our hotel project contractor because one of the guards greeted me with "good afternoon, engineer". Aside from that, he again said "good night, engineer" as I was leaving after the meeting. Now I'm confused - which profession would I like: architect, engineer, priest, pastor, doctor or mayor :) Enjoy your Sunday my friends and advance "kung hei fat choi"! (BTW, I was happy to get Ms. LT's "how are you" message.)

I'm very happy to see you back! I was wondering if everything was going okay for you and your family but hoped real life was keeping you busy. It sounds like things are going to turn out well with the project. (And congratulations on your "new" role in it. )

Thanks DaddyEvil :) It's very elating to know that somebody is happy to see me back alive and kicking hehehe! I was just been very busy since we came home from New Zealand in August last year. We spent many days upon our arrival with housecleaning as no one was left to tend to our house as we were stranded in New Zealand for a year and 5 months. I hope to spend some time here every now and then whenever I'm free. Hope everything is fine with you too and your daughter.

@sunrisefan You're welcome. I was sure you and your wife would be "enjoying" cleaning up and checking on your house when you finally got back. And you know there will always be people here happy to see you whenever you show up. We're both doing well, thank you.

@DaddyEvil I'm glad to know that you and your daughter are doing well. Don't keep your guard down though with this treacherous virus. So many of our friends and acquaintances have gone because of it. In fact, quite a number of relatives of my wife have gone.

It's not a high paying job; it's just some sort of consultancy with some honorarium for our effort.

I am so glad to see you back, it was a very long time you were not around. I remember you said that people thought you were a pastor... which profession would you like more?

Yes, it's been a long time that I've not been here Ms. Anna. I guess those professions they're attributing to me should be enough hahaha!. One thing I don't want to be alluded to would be a congressman because many such people are stained with corruption :)

You're right (I brought along 10 pieces of hot "bibingka" for them). Aside from that, I also brought along a box of "otap" (sugar biscuits) for out meeting. The contractor too had one of his engineers bring 3 large boxes of Greenwich pizza :) I later learned that it was the contractor's turn for our snacks and dinner in this meeting as our coop and his group alternately take turns to prepare these.

@sol_cee I have not seen Ms. Dina here too except for that "how are you" message she sent me.

@sunrisefan I think Australia is looking at fully-vaccinated tourists too. I sometimes wonder just what is in the future.

@JudyEv So do I. I just hope covid won't be going wildly again worldwide. As for us here in our province, the numbers keep rising.

Hahaha! Our hotel project was supposed to be finished in 26 months but it's now more than 3 years because of the pandemic and the recent typhoon that ravaged our province and neighboring provinces. The bright side is that it's now nearing completion and hopefully when we're done, we would be able to start business with the coming re-opening of our borders to fully-vaccinated foreign tourists.
