Whew! That is a relief

I have been afraid to look at my power bills, even though we had those 4 days without power, the rest of the month, the heat has been on nearly constantly with those cold temperatures. I rarely use it so much, plus space heaters have been running quite a bit when the heat is not on. I was figuring the bill would be ghastly high, but it is not..maybe the power company is embarrassed about the outage,(they should be) and gave credits, or maybe the bill for Feb will be a bit more..whatever, I am happy..I was thinking it would be 300+ or something. I think they did some creative billing to keep bills on the low side.

We pay gas and electricity together and we pay every three months, the last bill was pretty high because it covers winter months, I paid less than $ 700 for gas and electricity, it reasonable.

Well considering it covers a 3 month period, it is OK I guess.

@snowy22315 - For a three story house with 4 bedroom all heated all the time is not expensive.

Yes, energy is costly everywhere, and I am happy this company has ressonable rates.

I'm looking for mine to be way high this month. It seemed like on these freezing days and nights that my unit never cut off.

I know, I hear that. Luckily the temps are warmer now, and we get lots of sunlight in here so not really needed so much now.

Wouldn't you qualify for heating assistance? They should offer that through social services. I have never applied for it, (and probably wouldn't qualify anyway) but plenty do.

@snowy22315 I would if the heater worked..they will only pay if the heating works you see. They only pay for gas not electric. Leap you are talking about. They wont pay for space heating. Another reason why I am furious with this situation. I should sue them for cost.

@snowy22315 Our fuel bills have gone up on average from £500 a year to £1300. That’s just for natural gas powered heating. On top of that electricity has just gone up by 21% and will jump again.

@xFiacre Yeah, that will help for sure. My bills here are usually the lowest in April and October where heat or AC are not required.

@snowy22315 A good lot can't and have to make difficult choices. I'm glad spring is just round the corner.

That would be a big relief. I was shocked to see my power bills and then called them up. It was a mistake on their part. Though I pay my bills regularly on time, they included the last month bill also into this. Good that it was sorted out.

I couldn't afford a $300 power bill. I'm praying mine won't be too much over $100.

PG&E does "creative billing" to make up for the fines they had to pay because of the wildfires they caused. Monopolies suck.

I'm so happy for you. That was an awesome feeling turned to be ironical for the bill goes beyond your expectation. That's also what I'm feeling if current billing arrives for we consumed current much.

That's good news. I wonder if the power company tried to lessen the impact. I can't imagine them doing that here.

I think they may have. If they charged for everything everybody used, I have the feeling it would have been alot more.

That is great news for you and hopefully you won't get hit with a big bill for Feb. My heat has been on a lot too along with my electric fireplace. I'm sure my bill will go up. I hate this winter and all the cold

I know..I had a friend who told me she always opens her electric bill sitting down, since she is afraid she will collapse,,,if she opens it by the door... Luckily since mine is online, I am always sitting down anyway!
